This is a message for any members who were involved in the Mass. Firearms list a few years back. We organized CTP to help embarrass Mass. State Sen. Cheryl Jacques for some improper activities in running an anti-gun rally in 2000 called First Monday.

If there are any of the old group here, I have received an offer to sell the domain to a group that claims to be helping Republicans get elected in Indiana. I don't have a problem selling the domain since I don't live in Mass. and am not particularly interested in Mass. politics anymore.

If there are any old CTP members here that are interested in maintaining the domain, let me know before I sell it. Since the org. has been around for five years and has a short history in Mass. politics, it might be of some use to activists in Mass.

If there are any folks here that are still active in the ma-firearm list, could you please post this message there? I would appreciate it. Thanks.

This sort of thing (Stop the Lies) was exactly what CTP was intended to do. By issuing press releases and holding stunts of our own, we gained some press attention. Having a website is not enough, you have to go out and get heard.

In the past, we avoided an association with GOAL so that we could be intentionally more confrontational. Some of us were GOAL members and some not. We attended the First Monday rally in 2000 with signs of our own. It was a public place and no permit was obtained by the First Monday people, so they couldn't keep us away. Our goal was to attract press attention (the press loves confrontation) but not to disrupt. You can see some of our signs here:

We also attended Million Mom March public meetings and provided an opposing viewpoint to their lies about gunowners.

We also had an ethics investigation started against Cheryl Jacques for her misappropriating Federal money for the First Monday event. This provided a small amount of negative publicity for her campaign for Congress which she lost.

That's basically the history of it. I'd like to see a Mass. or Northeastern group keep it going but I don't have time to lead it. If there is interest, folks will need to contact Todd Goodman, who currently hosts the domain. Contact me for the email address.

Larry, it's been a while. Hope you and your family are well.

You might want to disguise that e-mail address a bit, or Mr. Goodman is going to get spammed like crazy.

I'd love to see CTP active here in MA. Reilly has given us some openings. But realistically, I don't have time to do it.
