Red and blue states mourn gun violence differently
This weekend, we experienced hate-fueled violence when a deranged stabber slashed Hanukkah worshippers inside a Monsey, New York, Hasidic rabbi’s residence. Then, a shotgun-wielding madman attacked church worshippers in White Settlement, Texas, before a concealed-carrying former sheriff's deputy…

Interesting article by retired FBI not a law enforcement analyst for CNN. One *can* be in law enforcement (or ex-LEO) and be anti-gun but I'm not sure one can be with CNN and be pro-gun. He *might* be trying to maintain neutral in this article, whether pro- or anti-gun. the final touch may have been a bit of former FBI in him as well as CNN/personal opinion about who should have guns in sensitive places "Let’s all hope that we can serve our fellow citizens as did Jack Wilson, the former FBI agent who was lawfully armed and diligently trained for just such an event when he courageously stopped the West Freeway Church of Christ shooter with one shot."
A search suggests he calls himself a conservative, Republican gun-owner who favors more gun regulations As a conservative, Republican gun owner, I think we need better gun regulations and said, in 2017, "I am a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment".
1. We desperately need sensible measures to limit the availability of assault rifles to those who shouldn’t own them. And after we sew up the holes that sometimes allow someone like the Texas shooter to access a weapon of war, let’s ask ourselves this question: Why does any civilian need to own an assault rifle?
2. And how about all states require that lost or stolen firearms be reported to the authorities?
3. Tell me again why we don’t have a federal ban on bump fire stocks?
4. And finally, make it a requirement that firearms procured through straw purchases be registered.
I don't even know WTF that last one means...but he's an elitist "staunch" supported of the 2ndA - join the FBI or military if you want an AR15, a 30rd magazine...
