Church Shooting in Texas. (Or, we're not going anywhere with this one.)

Interesting article by retired FBI not a law enforcement analyst for CNN. One *can* be in law enforcement (or ex-LEO) and be anti-gun but I'm not sure one can be with CNN and be pro-gun. He *might* be trying to maintain neutral in this article, whether pro- or anti-gun. the final touch may have been a bit of former FBI in him as well as CNN/personal opinion about who should have guns in sensitive places "Let’s all hope that we can serve our fellow citizens as did Jack Wilson, the former FBI agent who was lawfully armed and diligently trained for just such an event when he courageously stopped the West Freeway Church of Christ shooter with one shot."

A search suggests he calls himself a conservative, Republican gun-owner who favors more gun regulations As a conservative, Republican gun owner, I think we need better gun regulations and said, in 2017, "I am a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment".

1. We desperately need sensible measures to limit the availability of assault rifles to those who shouldn’t own them. And after we sew up the holes that sometimes allow someone like the Texas shooter to access a weapon of war, let’s ask ourselves this question: Why does any civilian need to own an assault rifle?
2. And how about all states require that lost or stolen firearms be reported to the authorities?
3. Tell me again why we don’t have a federal ban on bump fire stocks?
4. And finally, make it a requirement that firearms procured through straw purchases be registered.

I don't even know WTF that last one means...but he's an elitist "staunch" supported of the 2ndA - join the FBI or military if you want an AR15, a 30rd magazine...

A shotgun is a weapon of war now?
How do you make the leap from shotgun to talking about assault weapons?
The dude didn't either read the story or watch the video , or he did and he's a bald faced lying POS.

Amoral sack of crap.

Actually he is not talking about a shotgun, the quote is from a 2017 article referencing the Sutherland Springs church shooting (per the link in that postj.

In any event his opinion, like his “conservative” CNN commentary, is just more of the same statist douchebaggery.

Ok, try this drill next time you are on the range and report back (no mulligans) -

Upon arrival, set up a solid target about 6"-8" in diameter at 50 feet (no concentric rings - a solid steel plate, paper plate, or even a section of log on a stand). Draw you carry gun and fire one shot at target in 2 seconds or less from the draw. You get one try each range visit, and have to do this "cold" before any other shooting (only non-real world prep is putting on ear.eye protection).

It will be interesting to see what people report (include gun and caliber)

Dunno if it's come out elsewhere already but the NR ran a story Jan 23 with Wilson saying: "the individual still, after the shooting, still had seven live rounds in his gun and three more in his pocket."

What shotgun did the killer have?

Mini shells?

Every homicide in Texas must go before a grand jury. The DA still has control of what they see, and huge sway over what they decide.

This case was clear-cut, no matter how the process worked.

Also: wow, that was just 8 months ago! 2020 has been a loooooooong year. :/
