Church Shooting in Texas. (Or, we're not going anywhere with this one.)

The twitter twats turning this into a racial thing due to the town's name. I posted a couple of the tweets but there's more on the link

A lunatic burst into a church in White Settlement, Texas, during the serving of communion. He killed one man and injured another. A church member with a gun or an armed guard took down the shooter, saving the other church members from a massacre. Several church members pulled out their guns at the same time.

The racists on Twitter immediately commented on the name of the town. They were more concerned with the name than they were with the shooting and why the monster did it.

The name, ‘White Settlement,’ brought out all the racists with warped minds.

The reason the town is called ‘white settlement’ is explained in Wikipedia:

The name of “White Settlement” was originally bestowed upon the community by several Indigenous tribes in the area. The city got its name because it was the lone village of white pioneers amid several Native American encampments in the Fort Worth area in the Texas Republic territory in the 1840s.

On October 14, 2005, city leaders citing hurdle in attracting businesses announced a plan to have local voters decide on a possible name change for the town from White Settlement to West Settlement. In the November 8 election, the name change was overwhelmingly rejected by a vote of 2,388 to 219.

The oldest street in White Settlement is, of course, White Settlement Road. This original trail led from the fort to the “white settlement” about eight miles west into Native American territory. The area was called “white” because it was a settlement of “white” homesteaders, as opposed to other settlements in the vicinity that were composed of both white and Native American residents. As the Native American problems subsided and the settlement moved westward, the road followed. This was the only public road in White Settlement’s early history.

It’s perfectly innocent but racists think everyone has a mind like theirs.

Take the power away from race accusers and just identify as a racist! No really, just say yeah, I'm a racist! So what??? If enough people push that narrative their whole agenda gets blown out and the race card evaporates!

Many of the churches here have volunteer security teams among the congregation. Some of my friends here do that. Were I a church goer I would.

Videos gone now but I saw it earlier, 2 things come to mind, even if the guy brought in an AR with a drum he wasnt getting very far, he was dead before his third shot and then swarmed by a small army with pistols in a few seconds. Sucks but it's video evidence of how mass shootings go down in non-gun free zones. Second, old guy in the blue vest is hardcore, a little twitch at the first shot and just calmly sits there watching as everyone around him is climbing under pews. Has to be a combat vet.

Video is in here.

Looks like a few church goers went heeled this morning. Good for them, this is how it should go down everytime, also why the only story here is that there is a town called White Settlement.

The Jews should watch this.

When will they learn?

I’ve read articles where the rabbi says he will never allow guns in the synagogue.

Talk about an advertisement as a soft target that attracts killers.

Some instructors offer free classes for Jews , yet they refuse to attend.

Was the holocaust not enough?

The Jews in Israel protect themselves.

I am a practicing Christian meeting in a non-denominational church and I’ve carried before while in the meetings but I will certainly do so with perpetuity in every meeting now. While we do not meet in a grandiose building I will not let us become a soft target. I’d be remiss if I didn’t form a wound channel in a violent perps dome like my roe deer avatar.

Uncle Joe missed by this much

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden attacked Texas Governor Greg Abbott earlier this year for signing a bill into law that allowed lawful gun owners to carry firearms in places of worship, repeatedly calling Abbott’s decision “irrational.”

Biden’s resurfaced remarks come as an attacker opened fire on a church congregation in Texas on Sunday, where he was immediately stopped by a good guy with a gun.

“Dealing with firearms, it is irrational, with all due respect to the governor of Texas, irrational what they are doing,” Biden told reporters on September 2. “On the very day you see a mass shooting … and we’re talking about loosening access to have guns, to be able to take them into places of worship, it’s just absolutely irrational. It’s totally irrational.”

Biden continued, saying that any weapon that was capable of carrying “magazines that can hold multiple bullets” should be banned – which is nearly all firearms.

“It’s no violation of the Second Amendment,” Biden falsely claimed.

Later asked if there could be any compromises with Republicans on the issue, Biden responded, “None. None on this. I think this is no compromise. This is one we have to just push, and push, and push, and push, and push.”

CNN reported on the bill went into law on September 1, 2019:

Senate Bill 535 clarifies the possession of firearms at churches, synagogues or other places of worship. It allows licensed handgun owners to legally carry their weapons in places of worship – and comes nearly two years after a gunman killed 26 people at Sutherland Springs church.
“We have learned many times over that there is no such thing as a gun free zone. Those with evil intentions will violate the law and carry out their heinous acts no matter what,” Texas state Senator Donna Campbell, co-sponsor of the bill, said in a statement. “It makes no sense to disarm the good guys and leave law-abiding citizens defenseless where violent offenders break the law to do great harm.”

“The existing statute is confusing and clunky when it comes to clearly stating the rights of licensed Texans to carry on the premises of a church,” Campbell added. “This bill provides clarity of the legislature’s intent to treat churches in the same manner as other privately owned establishments in Texas.”

The new laws in Texas:

  • Allow licensed gun owners to have their firearms in their cars on school property
  • Allow for school districts to have more school marshals
  • Allow for some foster homes to be able to have firearms
  • Ban homeowners or landlords of rental property from prohibiting residents from having firearms
  • Prohibit residents from being charged with a crime for carrying a handgun during a disaster
  • Allow people to carry weapons in places of worship
The resurfaced clips from Biden come as an attacker opened fire on a congregation on Sunday at the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, Texas.

Footage of the attack in Texas shows a good guy armed with a gun taking down the attacker with a matter of only a few seconds, preventing further harm from happening to the church congregation.

That didn't take long. Just like they say.

Nice (and quick) shooting by that guy. Situational awareness key there.

Side gripe. Is it just me, or does the sound of hysterical women screaming go right up everyone's spines? Having been in many emergency situations I have a very low threshold of tolerance for men or women who freeze up and think screaming like a 2yo girl is a great response to a dangerous situation. It's like "hey I'm the weakest link in evolution! Right over here! I'm making constant noise so you can easily come kill me!"

“The two security volunteers saved 242 other parishioners who were in the church,” said Jeff Williams, director of public safety, according to ABC News, which reported that both hit the gunman.
Er, no. Although the defensive shooter definitely saved lives the chances that but for him all 242 would have been killed or received ballistic apertures is virtually nil. He probably saved a couple of dozen.
On his campaign website, Wilson, a vocal Donald Trump supporter, explained his platform and principles in early December
So, how's that clinging to guns and religion thing working out?

What got me is the older woman in the center who covered her ears after the shooting starts...
