No surprise to anyone here, I'm sure, but after 10 years and a billion dollars down the tubes it looks like our friends to the North are finally realizing that registering guns doesn't reduce crime.

Good spot on Fox last evening by Dan Springer on the failure of Canada's attempt to register all long guns in the country. Apparently after spending a billion dollars trying to do it they only succeeded in registering half of the guns up there and only one of them was used in a crime. Kudos to Fox News (again) for having the guts to run a story that's bound to upset the left-wing gun grabbers. If you missed it, you can go to www.foxnews.com and run the video - look about halfway down the page on the left side.

I'm still trying to understand how they could spend a billion dollars on it. After all, it's gotta be a relatively simple database and thus a relatively simple application to develop. Sure, a couple of the tables will be quite big, but it's not a huge system.

So where did all the money go?

The Canadian $ is worth a lot more compared to the US $ than a few years back [sad]

That said, just shows what happens when they finally get around to electing a conservative (canadian version of a republican), eh?
