Well, it's me tonight. I went to bed about 11 or so. And I just laid there. I couldn't get to sleep. So, instead of tossing and the like, I just got up and started watching TV.

Then my daughter was screaming and she got up. So, now I'm watching The little Mermaid trying to get her to go to sleep.

This is not how I planned on spending my Saturday night/Sunday morning. I was planing on dreaming of whatever I would have been dreaming about.

So, am I the only one that has this problem?

I sleep about 5-7 hours a night. And offshore I only "Nap" for 2-3 hours...sometimes I luck out and get a little longer. When I'm on land I often suffer from some breed of jet-lag due to my odd shcedual on the rollin'blue.

I can GET to sleep....but sometimes it takes a while, and I don't stay down for long.

I'm with ya Ross, I finally was able to get to sleep a bit after midnight and I woke up at 6am.

I've always had a problem sleeping. It's hard for me to go under and when I finally do it's a battle to keep me there.

It's kind of annoying because Patrick falls asleep about an hour before me and sleeps another hour or two after I wake up and he's still tired... Maybe he sleeps too much!

Ya,since my wife decided to leave me and go "Find herself" 2 months ago,I can't really sleep or eat anymore.

At least I don't have to ask permission to buy ammo anymore.

Do 2-3 hundred pushups before you lay down, sometimes that helps me go to sleep.

That really bites, Greg. I'm sorry hun.

I usually have a hard time falling asleep. Ed, on the other hand, is out cold 5 minutes after laying down and turning the TV on. Some nights I just can't sleep. I'm up til 4 or 5 AM, then I finally drift off. However, if the alarm is set for anything earlier than 7, and I'm still awake at 5, I'll just get up and make some coffee. Thank heavens it doesn't happen often, but I've pulled all nighters before. it sucks...

I've had the sleepless nights, I'll wake up at 2am think about work then I'll be up until 6am. No fun, unless Cody wakes up and wants to watch Spounge Bob with me at 4am. [wink]

I usually fall asleep around 10-11:00pm but about once a week lately I don't feel tired. Last time I organized my FA-10's. The time before last I cleaned up my firearms work bench. I guess there are some benefits to insomnia.

Average 5 or 6 hours a night (except some weekends) and I fall asleep within 3 minutes of laying down.

Except maybe once a month, then I sit on the internet for 3 hours and sleep for 2. Sucks.

Get sleepless every now and again myself. Lately I've tried the trick mentioned on Saving Private Ryan, I try to stay awake. I'll be damned if it doesn't work; I fall right asleep.

G'Night

I hate when I can't get to sleep but the TV usually works after a while. I sometimes use a method of relaxation taught to me by Larry Glick many years ago and it works great.

TV doesn't work for me unfortunately. When I am flipping through the channels, some really good documentary or movie usually comes on,then I have to watch the whole thing.Couple weeks ago,Saving Private Ryan was on about 11pm...

Back when I was an undergrad with those M-W-F schedules I used to sleep about 14 hours every other night. With the fairly flexible schedule I've had consulting the past several years, I find myself drifting back into this pattern, much to my wife's irritation. I've always told her that the planet on which my species originated has a 48 hour day.

I used to have a shedual kinda like that when I was in College.

I used to need 8 hours (exactly) a night
but I rarely got it. But so long as the sum for whatever timeframe I was on was 8hours/Night I felt fine. So I could go 24 hours without any sleep, the sleep for 16 and be fine.

Worse was when I was a Bachalor and Working for NMFS. I used to sleep 4 hours a night every night. And then when my body couldn't take it any more, I'd go to work, and sleep on the long steam out to the fishing grounds. My Record was 18 solid hours of pure deep sleep! 8)

Now that I have a better half looking after me, my schedual is a little more regular.

But I'm like SR, I usally hit the rack about 1-2 hours after Mrs. Weer'd, and I'm up here on my Computer 1-2 hours before she starts to stir.

Yea, I just watched TV until about 5, then slept until about 10, got up. Put the hardtop back on my Jeep.

Went to the North Attleboro Santa Parade, then to the in-laws built a fire, had dinner. And just got home.

I'm usually really tired, but I'm still awake. SO I hope that I can get to sleep tonight.

Phooey!!!!

I WAS asleep. I somehow managed to fall asleep at about 9pm. Now it's 1:30 and I'm up. Lord only knows when I'll be back asleep, if at all...

Don't you hate that?

I can’t sleep if I am aggravated or if there is something really cool that I want, cause I'll think of it. But I keep a bottle of sleeping pills in the med cabinet if I am not feeling drowsy by 11:30 or so.

My wife had a bad time last night too. I happened to wake up around midnight and she was wide awake and not too happy! All I could think of was this thread, then I went back to sleep. She went donwstairs to watch TV.

I think I may know how Greg feels.

I know that I have had sleeping problems ever since I was a child. I used to spend a lot of time with my father and look up to him so wanting to be just like him I got into his sleep schedule. Which is barely ever. My father and I could go days without sleeping and most of the time forgot to eat as well.

Then boy meets girl. I get used to having my girl MAKE me sleep with her and always made me eat when she did. So I started to drift over to the other side with eating 3 times a day and sleeping 8 hours. Most of the time though I would just lay there in bed staring at the ceiling but it got me used to the 10 o clock BED schedule.

Then she leaves. I never realized that how much I would miss hating sharing my bed. Noone is there anymore. Now it makes sleeping absolutely impossible. So then the eating schedule goes bad too. I revert back to old times but worse.

Now with work it seems I never sleep and barely ever eat. Worst thing is with me, the longer I wait to finally try to sleep the harder it is for me to actually get to sleep.

Grifter hun - it'll get better. Either that or you'll just pass out from lack of sleep. How the hell can you function? Take care of yourself, will ya??? and eat something!!

Mother
(I'm not just a Mod, ya know)

A double dose of "Tension Tamer" tea will usually knock me out.

Otherwise, I'll stare at the ceiling and get to the point where I think my head will explode from all the thoughts rolling around in that vast, empty space.

When I do sleep well, I usually have bizzare dreams.

I was up for good by 3am this mornin! My last trip really messed up my schedual. I was cutting logs at 8pm.

Eh, I don't mind, it's nice and quiet at 3am....

I'm having a hard time adjusting to working the overnight shift... I fall asleep, but I don't sleep soundly, or have a deep sleep. I wake up feeling as tired as when I fell in to bed. This will be my 3rd night working and I'm having a hard time remembering what day it is. Thank heavens after tonight I'm off until Sunday night, and thankfully, this is only for a few weeks. There's just something wrong with going to bed when it's light and waking up in the dark. [lol]

I can sympathize Lynne. I have always had a hard time adjusting to 3rd shift. Even in the Army. The last time I had to do that was when I was stocking crew manager, and before Christmas we were working the overnight. The only problem was I would still be at work most times until 10am. Alan was still in school. So by the time Imight actually be able to go to sleep I felt i had to be up when Alan came home and also be up and have dinner with Glenn and Alan both. If I averaged 3-4 hours of sleep I was lucky. I'll stick to days or swings any day. I wish you luck.
