Steam.

I made a steam chamber out of 6" PVC tubing to bend some wood. I used it one time to steam off some surplus rifles that were immersed in cosmoline. Flowed right off

I actually think its cool to see comso seep out of the wood when I'm blasting away with my M38 and 91-30! I just bring a rag to the range with me......after a year now and many range trips the cosmo seepage is starting to die down Must be time for a new mosin :0

mine came with the oil can as part of the accessory kit, so if i ever miss the weepage I can always re-coat the furniture

This. I have only cosmo cleaned my SKS, so I can't speak to other methods, but boiling water in a bucket worked for me. you probably need to let them sit for 15-30 minutes. Take them out, wipe them down, and then oil generously when cooled.

Yeah, I'll third the boiling water method (for metal parts) works amazingly well.
Just make sure you oil them after, cuz it'll take off ALL protection.

i know, i wished i can get some buddies for my M91/30 but i have been gathering new guns at a pretty rapid clip since i got my LTC fairly recently and need to slow down.
