I would be careful and make sure he did not buy this rifle on a Dept. Letter Head if it is actually an SBR. Lots of LEOs do this to get around the NFA.

The OP hasn't even told us yet wehther or not it's one of those Bushmasters with one of those old school gaudy "2+" flash hiders welded onto it.
I've only seen those guns a billion times, and they "technically" have 14 inch barrels but are Title I legal because the welded on FH counts as part of the
barrel length.

Dept Letter head will get you "around" AW ban, but not NFA.

Jim/Boston you were right. I picked up the rifle yesterday and it is a 16 inch carbon 15 Bushmaster.
