Camden: Man Killed Trying to Disarm Robber

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: November 13, 2006

A grocery store worker was fatally shot on Saturday night after trying to wrest a gun away from a robber, Camden officials said yesterday. The worker, Ambioris Antonio Peña-Duran, 35, of Camden, was shot just after 8 p.m. in Cesar’s Grocery Store in South Camden.

Officials said he grabbed a robber from behind after the man pointed a gun at his 42-year-old female co-worker and demanded money. The robber broke free and shot Mr. Peña-Duran, the police said. Mr. Peña-Duran’s co-worker, who was not identified, was able to escape during the struggle, they said.

In NJ, the peons are disarmed. While technically they CAN get a carry permit, in reality they're reserved for security guards (while on duty and ONLY after getting a "letter of need" from the boss), cops and the rich and well-connected. At least in MA we really CAN get carry permits. At least, in some towns.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13).

God rest his soul, he was a brave man.

Camden NJ

Camden is hell on earth....Looks kind of like Dresden after the firebombing. Avoid it at all costs.

Not quite right. In NJ it is perfectly legal to carry a handgun in your home or place of business without a carry permit. While you are not permitted to leave the premise without a carry permit, anywhere on your property, inside or out is permitted.

Most just chose not to do it or are banned by the ownes of the business.

But the description of Camden is close. Yet right across the river is very high prices communities. Go figure.

+1.

- maybe not the smartest move, but I wasn't there so who can really say, maybe he had no choice.
