So...what if in the Bump Stock Bill there is verbage in there that passes National Reciprocity?

I think it would be a hell of an idea, and force the democrats hand.

Brilliant.

which means they won't possibly do it..

Schumer, Pelosi, et al would be all over it, saying we just had cross border rifles kill 59 people and that this is a state's rights issue that should be left out of the hands of the federal government, and to the local govs

same as driver's licenses, marriage licenses, gay marriage, roe v. wade, health insurance, etc.

In the heat of the moment, with people demanding "pass a law RIGHT THIS SECOND", reciprocity could be easily snuck in to a law called "Banning of Mass Murder Weapons" or something equally mom and apple pie sounding, but the Republican legislators are too much of ignorant self serving twits to figure out how to do that, or to risk it.

I'm assuming the NRA got something out of their capitulation on bump stocks - but I doubt it was something as tangible and big ticket as reciprocity or silencers.

As in an amendment to any bump stock ban legislation?

The antis would flip out and claim the gun lobby/NRA is trying to sabotage the bill by attaching a 'poison pill'
amendment to it, but ****'em, they attempted to do that with the PLCAA bill, and they succeeded in doing it
the first time around.

I say go for it, we have nothing to lose by doing so.

Yes. Exactly. Take a page out of the democrat playbook. Insert poison pill. Demonize other party for not passing legislation to save the children.

All the Repubs would have to say is hey, we agreed to ban bump stocks
this bill, but the Dems wouldnt pass it? Go figure?

This one is for the federal legislation.

How about the Massachusetts version? What should be included? We give them "bump stocks" for them giving us 30 rounds and muzzle devices?

Lol. MA. We are screwed. Even Repubs think they should be outlawed.

By Republican I’m sure you don’t mean tall deval Baker.....he’s ready to sign immediately.

You guys just don't understand politics.
If Charlie doesn't screw us over it will upset the Dems and he will lose his seat and give a Dem the opportunity to screw us.
See, it's much better when a Republican screws us.
At least you get to say it's the guy you voted for doing the screwing.
So we got that going for us.

Ban new bump stocks and grandfather the existing by repealing the Hughes amendment in order to allow registration.
That would be a decent compromise - no more fake auto in order to get the real deal

There won't be any trade off here for anything.
Just another cut in the death by thousands and now the anti's will be crowing about have the NRA on the ropes, on the run , and defeated.
True or not it's going to be a major PR victory.

Republicans Yank Concealed Carry Reciprocity; Want to Discuss New Gun Controls

Click here to remind your Representative and Senators that the Second Amendment does not allow for gun control, but asserts that our gun rights “shall not be infringed.”

Nancy Pelosi: “I Certainly Hope” a Ban on Bump Stocks Will Lead to Further Gun Restrictions

I warned you earlier this week that this might happen.

Congressional Republicans are under extreme pressure to “just do something.”

And so rather than focus their ire on the bad guy who took 58 lives on Sunday night, they are turning their attention to an inanimate object -- bump stocks.

But through all of this, Republicans have yanked any discussion of concealed carry reciprocity off the table -- even though they had promised a vote would be coming soon.

So this is what Congressional leaders are saying about the new restrictions on bump stocks they want to consider:

• House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-NJ) said, “Clearly that's something we need to look into.”

• House Freedom Caucus Leader Mark Meadows (R-NC) stated that he “would be open to considering a bill” on banning these items.

• And then, of course, there’s House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who when it was pointed out to her that banning bump stocks could lead to further gun control, shot back: “So what? … I certainly hope so.”

Keep in mind that bump stocks are devices that, ironically, were approved by the ATF during the Obama administration, with the intent of helping disabled Americans shoot their firearms.

So imagine this: Congressional Republicans might be placing themselves to the LEFT of Barack Obama!

If Congress bans or regulates bump stocks, then they will have to ban rubber bands and belt loops on trousers -- because these items can simulate the same effect that a bump stock does.

In some cases, you will even have to ban fingers because many shooters can fire a semi-auto nearly as fast as a full-auto.

You can read more about what bump stocks are, and aren’t, by going here. And you can use the Take Action feature to oppose legislation to ban these items. (NOTE: Only Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Rep. David Cicilline have introduced bills with numbers -- S. 1916 and H.R. 3947 -- but some Republicans have promised they will be sponsoring bills too.)

Ugh! Vote on Reciprocity is Postponed

Meanwhile, congressional sources are telling us at GOA that a vote on reciprocity has been postponed indefinitely.

So Congress strings us along for almost an entire year (telling us to be patient) and then because one villain commits unspeakable crimes, they are now going to punish law-abiding Americans with further restrictions -- and put off the vote on reciprocity.

I’m sorry, but that gets me really upset.

We need to tell Congress: No way! Don’t you dare try to bring up bump stocks for a vote, and leave reciprocity by the wayside.

I hope that you will tell Congressman and Senator that our Second Amendment rights are non-negotiable and that it’s time to bring up concealed carry reciprocity

Ban 'bump stocks' and allow full auto. Then... 'nobody needs' a bump stock.

Ban new bump stocks and grandfather the existing by repealing the Hughes amendment in order to allow registration.

this.....
Folks need to realize that any compromise on this bump stock nonsense will only result in further polarization of the full auto issue and roll back any chances of opening the registry back up

If it isn't a compromise, then it isn't a compromise. Need to see what each side gives up.

There absolutely WILL be a trade off.....a bunch of reps/sens are going to lose their jobs at the primary/general election in 2018

Too bad the GOP hasnt learned the same lesson that we keep teaching dems......

Bunch of slow learners

To be replace by?

Actual compromise would mean at least one side was an honest broker - neither are.

I hate to break it to you but the leadership of both parties are really one in the same........there's no comprimise when they are colluding with one another

How many more Roy Moore events have to happen before McChicken and Lyin' Ryan get the message?

Keep this shit up after the Obamacare repeal failure and other legislative failures, the GOP primaries are going to be a ****ing bloodbath in 2018.
