Someone walk me through it. I've built 'full-size' Ar15's, and now I want a pistol.

I am curious to see what length gas tube you get for what size barrel, etc.

I want a 7.5"-10" barrel, and the length of gas tube has me confused.

Do they also use carbine buffers & springs??

Any help let me know. Thanks.

If someone could also post a Ma. compliant version of an AR pistol with pics. & parts list, I'm very interested myself.

Not trying to hijack Neil [wink]

Did you really just recommend Neil a Ice Arms product? I'll let him tell you his experience. [rofl]

I also poke sleeping bears

somewhat interested in this as well, starting with one of those plastic lowers can the weight be kept under 50 oz? what other non-ban features are needed?

This is the barrel I went with.

It is a pistol gas system. On a 10.x" 5.56 barrel or longer you would be using a carbine length gas system. If 300blk is what you want, I think you can run a pistol length on any size barrel.

A pistol buffer tube uses carbine guts unless you are using one of those funky short ones, I don't know much about them.

I am very much looking forward to banging away with mine.

So on a 10"+ barrel, it's a carbine gas tube? So I am guessing anything shorter than 10", it is a pistol length gas tube??

And yeah, I won't be buy anything from Ice Arms. Ever.

Wow. Very nice. Do you happen to know the weight, without the mag & sights?

Rock River Arms has a nice 7" barrel assembly, but it's a 1:9 twist.

All my other AR's are a 1:7.

Would that 1:9 be able to shoot 55-62 grain ammo ok?

I might just go with the one Ed posted at Core15.

http://core15rifles.com/core15-7-4150-cmv-1-7-barrel.html

Only $150.

I wouldn't worry about the 1:9 twist until you start getting up to 69+ grain bullets. The Core barrel was cheap, and that is all I wanted, a toy to shoot cheap russian steel ammo at plinking ranges with. I will likely be looking for either a 11.5" BCM or a DD MK18 upper after the new year so I am ready to SBR when I get the tax stamp in.

I weighed it today at work with the Optic it was 5.5 pounds. The optic does not weigh that much anyway.

Thanks. I was trying to get an idea of how much I would need to chop off in order to make the weight restriction in Ma. I'm going the sbr route.
Otherwise it's gonna end up looking like this: [shocked]

I am very tempted to get that 10.5" upper. Good for a pistol now, and for if I ever feel like doing an SBR.

Very tempted.

I wish it came with a BCG and CH.

want to touch the hiney.

my LMT in the same condition ran me $550-ish.

10.5" barrel, 29.5" OAL (sez intarnet) when it's a SBR. when i have the lower i am building a pistol with the upper.

I want to buy something, but I am trying to hold out for Black Friday, to see what kind of deals they have.

It's killing me though, because this would be perfect for what I was looking at.
