BOSTON —Very few of the "gun control" laws in place around the United States actually save lives, according to a new study by Boston University.

Researchers analyzed data from 2010 on over 31,600 gun-related deaths and looked at 25 state-specific gun laws. Their results suggest that federal adoption of three key laws would drastically reduce the national mortality rate from 10.1 per 100,000 people to 0.16 per 100,000.

Requiring firearm identification through ballistic imprinting or microstamping -- 84% projected decrease in mortality risk
Ammunition background checks -- 82% projected decrease in mortality risk
Universal background checks for all gun purchases -- 61% projected decrease in mortality risk

Here is the original study. I would love to hear from someone who is better in statistics than I am. I have been trying to brush up a bit so I can read this properly.
