If I have a LTC in CT and obtain a non-resident LTC for MA, can I bring my firearms when I stay there?(a couple) the town she lives in is a red town, but I heard getting a non-resident LTC A no restrictions is easier than being a resident of the red town. Any truth to this? I plan on living with her most of the time, but my home ownership and residence stays in CT. Am I a rarity? What are my options?

Just leave the post-ban hi-cap mags home and IF you get an unrestricted NR LTC A you can carry them in MA. CJIS is NOT generous about giving out UNRESTRICTED LTC-As. I've been told that you need "proper reasons" that meet their (unknown to us) criteria, otherwise you will only get a Restricted LTC-A.

Good luck.

So if I was to start a fake business, where I'd be carrying money? Get a business license and such, ridiculous, my safety, as well as my families does not rate. I assume I'm beating a dead horse here.

Wait a second... So assuming I get a non resident with some sort of restriction, bringing them anywhere(including her house) that does not involve the restriction is not allowed?

In MA, you do NOT have any RIGHT to protect yourself. The AG said it best "we discourage self help"! [rolleyes]

You need to do some reading of the stickies in the MA Laws forum, seriously.

If you have the appropriate permit (LTC-A) you can bring whatever is LEGAL TO POSSESS into MA (AWB and hi-cap ban still applies). You may store them (per MGLs) where you visit/live. You may bring them to a gun range and use them there. You may NOT legally "carry" a loaded gun anywhere unless your permit specifically allows it (unrestricted). EOPS/CJIS has set a policy of NOT issuing unrestricted licenses to NRs unless they have "very good reason" (according to them). [Carrying a loaded gun to a gun range, given a "hunting and target" restriction is a gray area and could lead to legal problems . . . something I cover in my MA Gun Laws seminar, see sig line, so I do NOT recommend it.]

You do not want to lie on your application, as doing so could open you up to a charge of perjury.

If you get a restricted license, you could bring them to MA. You would likely get a restriction that says something along the lines of "sport and target." You would not be able to carry concealed in MA, but you could transport them, take them to a range, and keep them in her home.

As Len and M1911 said, a NR LTC permits possession and transport, but carry is regulated relative to any restrictions imposed.

I appreciate everyones help. I am a noob, and am trying my best to join the ranks before we lose the rest of our rights. I have been reading extensively in the law area but as you probably are aware the laws are quite convoluted. I will continue reading and appreciate your patience.
