National Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed by elements of a Para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.

Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement.

Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the group’s organizers as “criminals,” issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government’s efforts to secure law and order.

The military raid on the extremist arsenal followed wide-spread refusal by the local citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault weapons.

Gage issued a ban on military-style assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the week. This decision followed a meeting in early this month between government and military leaders at which the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms.

One government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, pointed out that “none of these people would have been killed had the extremists obeyed the law and turned over their weapons voluntarily.”

Government troops initially succeeded in confiscating a large supply of outlawed weapons and ammunition. However, troops attempting to seize arms and ammunition in Lexington met with resistance from heavily-armed extremists who had been tipped off regarding the government’s plans.

During a tense standoff in the Lexington town park, National Guard Colonel Francis Smith, commander of the government operation, ordered the armed group to surrender and return to their homes. The impasse was broken by a single shot, which was reportedly fired by one of the right-wing extremists.

Eight civilians were killed in the ensuing exchange.

Ironically, the local citizenry blamed government forces rather than the extremists for the civilian deaths. Before order could be restored, armed citizens from surrounding areas had descended upon the guard units. Colonel Smith, finding his forces over matched by the armed mob, ordered a retreat.

Governor Gage has called upon citizens to support the state/national joint task force in its effort to restore law and order. The governor also demanded the surrender of those responsible for planning and leading the attack against the government troops.

Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock, who have been identified as “ringleaders” of the extremist faction, remain at large.

And this fellow Americans, is how the American Revolution began, April 20, 1775.

History. Study it, or repeat it.

The 72 would be running to the NH border, wondering if they set up a camp in NH, if they could buy a gun there.

You know how the rest of the story goes. [rofl]
Yup. I “ran” 30 years ago.
Setup camp.
Knew I could buy any f***ing gun I wanted here, and did.
Certainly didn’t need Maura effing Healey to know which way the wind was blowing.
Any Patriots down there need a help when it kicks off and I’m sympathetic to your cause. Also a literal stones throw from the border. 😈😈😈😈😈

It would be great if New Hampshire followed through on it's promises on a Warning Sign when motorists are about to leave NH and enter Massachusetts

I guess that includes yourself, since you didn't say "71 more.", no?
Correct. Id not allow my family to be mowed down by some one just doing their job. Further I would not publicly state if I would resist, or what if any contingency plans i do or do not have in place. Gun rights in this state are a lost cause. Personally i do believe “they” will be coming at some point. The police force in the town i live in has what ammounts to a tank/armored assault vehicle. They have me out manned and out gunned. Just how I see it.

The "defund the police" movement was the 1st step towards making a police force who'd follow through with this stuff.

It's lost on a lot of people, and most of the people on the forum. "defunding the police" has NOTHING to do with abolishing the police force. It has everything to do with abolishing the current police force, and recreating a new one in the left's SJW/Woke image. It's frustrating that people keep posting memes and news articles about this that miss the point. "MN regrets defunding the police!" hurr durr. Open your eyes.

The Soviets did just this, the Chinese did just this and so did the Germans. When you make the police force in the exact image of your extreme ideology you have a private and local army to carry out some major bullshit. And rounding up the guns is going to be high on that list.

Plus this would not happen in modern times. Not in MA anyway. Doubt there would be 72 willing to actually resist.
to resist anything local militia should be active, citizens be deputized by town police and local municipality in charge of making decisions.
world now moves into a federal despotism model, where no local municipalities are any longer in the loop of making actual decisions on how to handle the population. especially if such population dares to offend its federal rulers. it is what it is, no new boston tea party any time soon. same mistakes will not be allowed more than once.

Which screws up multiple simultaneous recordings. Overlap and all that. I don’t need a whole minute. I need them to use the same clock as the rest of the world.

I couldn't count more than 20 at any Beacon Hill 2A rally

The ships sailed in MA. It's gone. Shouting at empty buildings isn't going to make a difference.

People living in MA need to understand that MA has zero interest in liberty, freedom or any of the old school ideals about what the US was. MA is, well, MA. And everyone whose reading this knows exactly what I mean by that.

If a person is ok being micromanaged by local authorities, MA is a fantastic place to live. I don't mean that sarcastically or trying to be funny. If a person isn't interested in mandated common sense, MA is a bad fit.

Going to Boston to be laughed at by people who specifically like being told how to live their life is a waste of good peoples time. Use that time to escape from the state, not collect in an area to be mocked by people who hate you. Zero opinions are changed at these rallies. And a lot of time is wasted.
