Armed suspect in St. Pete case sparks lockdown at MacDill AFB before arrest in Hernando Co.

There were no shots fired on the base and no injuries to any of its employees.

Officials later said that the suspect is a 54-year-old man with a gun related to a case St. Pete Police had been working overnight.

According to the police department, at 2 a.m. Friday, they received a call about the man who vandalized a vehicle at an apartment complex on Gandy Blvd. They say this man also damaged the door of the apartment of his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend.


Armed suspect near MacDill Air Force Base arrested after lockdown

The unidentified suspect was located near the Tanker Way entrance gate about 7 a.m., according to base officials. The base was locked down until police and other first responders arrived.


No shots were fired inside the base, and no base officials or employees were injured.



MacDill AFB on brief lockdown after report of armed suspect

MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, was briefly put on lockdown Friday morning after a report of an armed suspect outside the base.

The base was put on lockdown after local authorities notified the base there was an armed suspect near one of the base’s gates, a news release said. MacDill first responders were on the scene and isolated the response to an area outside one of the base’s gates.

All other gates to the base were reopened around 8 a.m. No shots were fired on the base and there were no injuries to any MacDill employees, the news release said.

People care, I just hear these types of events used by the left as "Wow, see what has happened because of gun nuts? We're all on edge because of the mass amounts of violence! This is not right. Only gun control can make us feel safe."
