Boston Herald disgusting editorial

On the brighter side, there was an interview on NPR with a crime expert who said that gun buybacks have no effect whatsoever on crime, and waste time and money that could be spent on doing something that actually works.

The reporter kept pressing him, and he kept coming back. Something to the effect of (I'm paraphrasing) "virtually nobody actually shoots other people, except for an small but exceptional population of hard core criminals, and they do not turn in their guns in buyback programs, and they don't get them from the people who do. There are a quarter of a billion guns in civilian hands in the country, and gun buybacks do not make any perceptible difference in either the number of guns in the hands of criminals, or the number of crimes committed with them"
