BOOM!! PASTA !!
A couple of people including myself have commented on how Pastrnak and Marchand have looked lost out there at times without Bergeron. It's true and I'm starting to notice a couple things.
The first is obvious and goes without saying. Bergeron being missing has legitimately been hurting them, because he both does so much and is always in the right place off puck. This means those two don't have to think about things as much. They can just play and plays come naturally.
The second is a result of the first. Both guys are trying to be too fancy and go for those homerun type plays (between the legs behind the back cutback deke around the defenseman) instead of just a more straight forward go hard and beat them with speed play. This has lead to countless turnovers, and without arguably the best 2-way forward at center to cover for them defensively or keep the play alive, well the result is what we've been seeing.
But hey, if Pasta can keep this up, it won't hurt them as bad! That's two!
Marchand needed to recognize he had DeBrusk open in front for a sure goal instead of going for the wraparound. It wasn't Heinen in front.
Speaking of Heinen, Krejci set him up for a perfect onetimer opportunity in the high slot and he...whiffed. Completely expected. He continues to absolutely suck at shooting. Terrible.
Disappointing outcome for what was a very good game overall. The lack of scoring continues to hurt them, and tonight that was a result of not being able to finish. They sure had chances!
Pasta needs to be better in the defensive zone. Not that he is doing badly, he is just being too cute. One turnover led to a goal and he had another very similar turnover in the third that didn't lead to anything. He needs to be harder on the puck and worry about clearing it out of the zone first and making plays second, particularly when under some sustained pressure.
Lauzon had a tough night. In both decision making and play making. His ice time numbers reflect that, nearly halving the other four (Miller left with injury).
The more I watch Heinen the more I grow to dislike him. No finish and less awareness. Twice in one shift he just got in DeBrusk's way! Every time Jake tried to find some open ice, Heinen followed him there bringing a defender with him. And it resulted in a puck bouncing right behind him as he skated away from the open ice to get in Jake's way the second time. Just brutal.
Then a few shifts later again a puck bounces free to where Heinen should have been, but he went somewhere else. Maybe he should be the guy who is a healthy scratch next game. Send him to the practice rink to just shoot until his arm falls off or something.
Imagine if on the PP, it was Bergeron instead of Backes. They almost certainly get another PP goal. Not that Backes was bad, because he wasn't. But because Bergy can both make plays he can't and finish. Backes had 3 real good chances this game where he was unable to find the back of the net.
My highly critical critiques notwithstanding, I thought it was a fun and exciting game and well played by both teams. The only really bad shift by the Bruins unfortunately led to the PP goal by Toronto in the 2nd. I said it while it was happening. Something bad is going to happen. They got caught running around and though it was even strength it looked like Toronto was on a PP. And sure enough, Bjork gets his stick in Ennis' skates and takes a penalty.
You have a great grasp on the game. And I always like to hear your take on it.....
Kevin Miller comes back from injury...and Kevin Miller goes back out with another.
The Bruins defensive woes continue. At least Connor Clifton has surprisingly been good. But with Miller back out Lauzon will stay in as well as either Kampfer (ugh!) or potentially Zboril.
Edit: Almost forgot. Donato recalled as well. He had apparently been playing well in Providence.
Rick Middleton's Ceremony
Don Cherry’s suit jackets are a blast.
I barely remember him in that funny helmet lol
LETS GO B’S!!
Snooze fest so far
Liked watching him play.
Without looking it up, who was the last NHL player to play without a helmet?
Spoiler: He was the last to play without a helmet.

Had to look but yeah, so obvious to anyone that’s watched hockey as long as we have.
Yes I agree. Can we turn it on Bs?
The Jofa helmet was worn by many greats at the time. Gretzky wore one.
"Nifty" move by Donato for the win!
McTavish the killer drunk driver.
LETS GO B’S!!
Hola Canndo. Is Farley in the house tonight? Lol
Yup. All primed up on Tito’s too.
Brought a friend tonight.
Sorry. Not letting me post for some reason. All my previous Farley’s are gone too.
