Wow. Someone probably did the 'right' thing by tossing unregistered machine guns and the cops are surprised and bent out of shape over it. I know you can get amnesty but if I found an old unregistered machine gun in the attic and decided to turn it in I'd be nervous. Never know if they would stick you with possession or not. It is sad that you have to take these possibilities into consideration in a free country.

They want to talk with anyone who may have been associated with the weapons. They also are trying to locate a museum interested in displaying them.

Somebody heard about these ... boating accidents, and took it to heart. Somebody has to find this guy and tell him ... "You're doing it wrong!".

At the least the LEOs are looking for a museum to donate the weapons to and acknowledge they don't want to destroy the weapons.
