Blank Firing Adaptors in Training?

My son is home from Ft Bragg (82nd Airborne Red Falcons). He said they don’t train live-fire too often - mostly Blank Firing Adaptors. Is that how military train for team/urban work?

I think live fire during an interactive team drill would bring a new level to the phrase "Damnit Carl!"

BFAs with MILES gear was the standard 35 years ago. I hope they've upgraded from the craptastic MILES since then.
