My girlfriend's a teacher in Bridgewater, she's been texting me throughout the day saying her school's been in a lockdown. She says black lives matters been protesting there because of a post a teacher made. I can't find anything on the news, and I can't find the police scanner for Bridgewater. Anyone able to find the new story or know what's going on?

Of course not. Those racists can come out and spew their hate all over the place. But a couple of cheerleaders in Utah make national news when they do it!

edit: Couldn't find anything on any news sites or google about this

Looks like this is what sparked the outrage... [rolleyes]

School Apologizes For Photo Appearing To Show Black Girl On Leashes

The Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District is apologizing for a controversial photo that appears to show a young African-American girl tied to two leashes.

Plimoth Plantation presented a lesson about the Pilgrims to third graders last Friday at the Mitchell Elementary School in Bridgewater.

Administrators said part of that lesson focused on outfits from the 17th century, particularly those worn by parents and children. Some of the children dressed up and posed for a photo with an adult in costume.

The photo showed the adult, a white woman, with her arms around two white children who were holding what appear to be leashes, which were attached to a young African-American girl who is kneeling on the floor in front of them.

The teacher shared the photo with parents of her students and that led to several irate postings of the picture on social media.

Superintendent Derek Swenson said he got word of the complaints late Wednesday and began an investigation early Thursday.

What appeared to be leashes were actually “tethering straps” the superintendent said in a statement, noting that the “garment worn by toddlers commonly used tethering straps to assist them when learning to walk.”

“We realize without this context added to the photo that was shared by the classroom teacher it could be perceived differently,” Swenson said in the statement issued Thursday.

“Please note it was never the intent of the lesson to demean or degrade any one person or group. The Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District sincerely apologizes to the students, staff and community at large for this unfortunate incident.”

Obviously people are going to be upset by this photo. I'm surprised the morons (appearently) at the school thought it would go over well.

You can bet if my kids were in that school, they'd have an armed escort when leaving. BLM are not know for their well thought out measured responses.

To the folks offended by this, grow a pair. Us 'normal' people have been offended by what has been going on in schools for years, doing away with Christmas, BS indoctrination and letting men use girls restrooms and all we get is 'hold it'. The tethering sounds reasonable, and my bet is each kid in that pic volunteered for their spot.

My son in 8th grade got crap for saying people should respect the office of the President, his teacher offered a "No comment" as kids were giving my son a hard time. It took every bit of will power not to walk into the school and give his history teacher a lesson on how to conduct himself in class. I can't wait for conferences.

"Tethering straps"- bahahaha
That school is named after my late father.... I'm sure he would have loved having his name all over this... only the exact opposite.

A big fan of 'Concealed means Concealed' and 'No you do not have consent to search me'. If I went somewhere and something happened, and I was disarmed by the idiots in charge and I made it out? You can bet there would be retribution.

If there is one thing that really pisses me off, is a teacher with an agenda. 10 years ago my daughter was an 8th grader t the same school and was being threatened to be sent home for a dress code violation, her shirt supposedly was cut too low. My wife would never allow her to leave the house wearing something to revealing so when she called me in tears to bring her a sweatshirt I grabbed the student/ parent handbook and went down to have a little tete a tete with the principal. I handed the woman the handbook and asked her to turn to the page where it describes clothing length. She said couldnt because it wasn't in there. By the time I was done with the principal, she was the one who looked like she was going to cry. ever since then she has been nice as pie when I go to school functions so I expect that she won't be too pleased when I ask for a meeting with her and the history teacher.

And that's what's wrong with this country. CLEARLY even with the fuzziness, you can see the young black-african-american (we're ALL from Africa - hence all African Americans!) smiling her ass off. Nope. Let's just jump to Offended right off the bat.

Tom Smykowski could have made a billion selling Jump to Conclusions. Maybe even get Alec Baldwin to host the prime-time game-show version. [rolleyes]

My wife is a teacher there and I can't get in contact with her. Is it a peaceful protest?

From what I understand school has been on lockdown, they called in extra admin and have a strong police presence. It's probably as peaceful as any other black lives matter protest (so not great). I'm banking on they will get hungry and go home before my girlfriend leaves for the day. Hopefully the same for your wife. I'm more concerned about them blocking busses/ parents trying to pick up there kids. I'm hoping PD has a handle on it.

Also I don't rember what school my gf is at, I'm not sure if it is a district wide thing or just her school.

Apparently now the bigger issue is the media which is everywhere. I wonder how this will be spun.

If anyone's doing that kind of bullshit and I swear to god I hope some parent or bus driver goes full Grand Theft Auto on them. When you start messing with the kids, you deserve what the angry parents do to you.

My oldest has a Social Studies teacher who would throw fits about Trump and Gunz. One of his friends has a you tube channel showing him shooting his dad’s collection. When Gunz came up in class he would start playing his vids. He’s known as the “gun kid” in school lol

BLM must have a database of unemployed people to call.

I don't comment on the forum much and I am still very new to it but the inability for us to see that something in this picture is wrong and offensive to some people like me brown is incredible! Everyone is so quick to say get over it or grow a pair without actually listening. In this matter Im referring to conservative's but liberals do the same stuff. It's sad and sickening. I as a black man find this very offensive and I'm not sensitive by any mean's. Feelins have left from years of being on the ambulance and fighting fires. Just sad. Rant over.

Having read the article and knowing what is happening in the picture, does it still offend you? Nowadays we put kids learning to walk in the little seats with wheels on them to assist in building leg muscles. Isn't this just a primative version of that? I'll admit, I did a double take when I first saw the photo, but after reading about it I don't think there was any malicious intent.

No so much no after reading the article but that's part of the listening portion of my rant. I would wager to say before all the name calling and negativity nobody most of us hadn't read the article. But what do I know. I live in Springfield and I'm a lowly public servant.

Sorry I misunderstood you. I hope people read the article before reacting. Then again if they did there would have been nothing to react to.
