Hi, I'm Weer'd, and I'm a Capitolist, and for me the biggest holliday of the year is Black Friday!

#1: its HARD to get up at 5am when you've been eating turkey and viseting with family late into the night. (4:15 I was up and about and drinking my tea and read NES while the Wife and the Mom-in-Law got up)

#2: it's GREAT to see people walking across a crouded parking lot at TOP SPEED (you KNOW they'd be running if there weren't other people watching)

#3: the night before having a "War Room" where you devide the stores between shoppers and plan wich to hit first, second, et al.

#4: the THRILL of grabbing the LAST of a somthing or other (Or better yet, having your pick from a pile, then turing your head and seeing it gone)

#5: Animated 6am conversations while waiting in line to check out (I hear about fights and such...but usally the people I see are quite chipper)

#6: if you are a Computer hot-rodder, like myself. This is the day to upgrade and jack-up yer box! (God knows how much money my PC may be valued at, but I sure as hell didn't pay that much for it! 8) )

Love it!!!

**Double Feed, so I can talk about MY Day**

Usally Black Friday is a day for me and my father (I can only hope to become as good a bargain hunter as he is) but He went up north to viset Family this morning (I would have gone, but I have to go to work), so this year I took the wife and the Mother-in-Law.

And It's my Mom-in-law's first Black Friday! 8) Now wasn't that fun? Hehhehe I think she was nervous but she made a good haul despite the lack-luster rebates this year (Anybody else notice this?)

My Haul was smaller than this year (No rebates that really got me wound up) (Some speakers for my "Media Box" PC that is going in the Armory) and 100 Rounds of .45 ACP.

My Mom-in-law and Wife did a fare bit better (The big haul was a Copy Machine and some 19" LCD Monitors *Mom-in-Law's old Monitor is going into the Armory 8) ) and they're still goin'! I'll catch back up with them later on!

Then we'll all sit down and fill out the rebate slips, and compare our Spoils.

Must be the Pirate in me!

Arrrrrrrrrrr

I have internet access and a credit card so......... no. I am not going shopping with those idiots. I can get the same price deals and it is worth the shipping not to have to go out. I'll just go to work and relax on an easy day.

I will not touch a store in a million years today. I've worked retail far to long and the saying hell will freeze is about right for me. No thanks. Although I had a fleeting moment to go to the fabric store, but not going to do it.

I think you're it. :)

I don't care for the malls on a quiet day, never mind black friday!

CD

If Kittery Trading Post was having a big sale I might reconsider...... :D

Yep, I didn't even get out of bed until 9. You're not going to get me to the malls today.

Like Sgt said...I can shop on-line. And if you Froogle it, you can almost find someone selling what you want with free shipping...and on the internet, there's no tax as long as you're not buying from a store that's in Mass.

The only place I might go today is to see a NESer at work. Other than that, I don't think that I'm going to go out.

Awww! Nobody who likes to get down in the Trenches???

I can't be the ONLY one (Ok my Dad too) who gets a charge out of it!

I'll be getting out to the Powderhorn later today, IF they aren't all out hunting. Does that count?

Also got to fix a friends SKS and show him how to disassemble it.

Okay - I went to Joanns this morning to buy some yarn to make Sgt. Joe a scarf (I did pretty good I think - I got two shades to make desert camo :D ). I was in there at 7AM and THANK THE GODS I wasn't planning on buying material today...there were already 10 women in line at the cutting table and the least bolts of material anyone of them had was 10. I got 20% off my stuff and came home. That's all I'm doing today - like Sue, too many years in retail burns ya out on crowds. The two days I hated the most was the day after Thanksgiving and the day after Christmas.

Yup, the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas. All the friggin returns. As I was telling Glenn, from here on out the dispositions on people goes wayyyy down hill. I always try to be the easiest customer, whether I am waiting in line or at the checkout. I have been on the receiving end. [lol]

OK, I went against my usual instincts today, under pressure from my daugher and son-in-law. We ran up to Nashua this morning and I managed to pick up a DVR/DVD Recorded for short money. I'll write it off as a business expense, since the first thing I'll use ir for is to transfer all my instructional videos onto DVD. [wink]

I'd never try it with my wife, since she believes in shopping. My daughter and her husband, however, share my view that any retail transaction should be viewed as a surgical strike: ascertain the lay-out of the target area beforehand (if you're not already familiar with it), have one team member enter the check-out line immediately on entering the store, while one team member retreives the target item with support from other members as necessary to eliminate interferience from sales personnel and competing customers. Swift - Silent - Deadly [wink]

Well, I went out, just came back, bought nothing. I'll have to go back later on and sort through some M1 parts he has to get proper period parts, esp Winchester.

THe Powderhorn was fairly busy, several guys looking, and he sold several guns in the hour I was there, a Romanian Dragunov among them.

If you're up this way, stop in and look. Powderhorn, at Taft's Corner (US 2 and VT 2A), in Williston, VT.

Yea, my Mom and Aunt think that it's the best thing ever. They get up early and get into fights with people that try to take the parking spot they were waiting for.

I did go out, I stopped by Northeast Trading, but I didn't buy anything...yet.

I think that maybe next week I'm going to get me a Beretta 92.

Y'all are nuts. I don't go into the stores on Black Friday any more if I can avoid it. (Oh, wait... I went to the corner store to get ice. Does that count?)

On Black Friday, Kathy & I invite a bunch of friends over to play games and eat (but not turkey!) We did a pot roast and some of JonJ's stew. Discovered that when cooking the stew on low, you need more than 8 hours cook time. On high, 4-5 hours is just fine. :(

Anyway, some we had about 13 people over and played a card game that someone brought called "phase 10" - sort of like rummy on steroids. After dinner the Munchkin decks came out.

Two of our friends brought their kids, who sat and watched movies... and complained because the laughter in the dining room was making it hard for them to hear the movies!! Ever hear a little kid tell the adults to (politely) shut up? [shock] Funny, I'll tell you.

So, no, not exciting or anything, but lots of fun with good friends. What more can you ask for? (other than hearing my friend tell me that his son would love to learn to shoot. A range session may be in order in the spring...) :D

Well, we must have been the only brave soles in this group! [lol]

We were out at 0830 to Ocean State, Staples and Brooks to pick up some sale items. NO crowds/lines in any of these stores.

Then Deena was off to the endodontist for an evaluation (yup, she needs a root canal).

Then to Best Buy, Circuit City and Costco.

All of the above were surgical strikes!

Then on to Four Seasons and Collectors Coin Gallery. My Wife picked up her S&W 64 and I picked up a Glock 22. More about that stuff in the thread about my Wife.

BTW, learned that a couple of the employees at Four Seasons are members of NES. Put a bug in Jack's ear at Collectors to join us here too.

Don't worry, I think we spent enough for most of you that stayed home! [wink]

A friend called and invited us to join them for a concert at Lincoln Greyhound Park in RI, so we just returned home a short time ago.

Even was able to snipe a printer on eBay in absentia! [wink]

Tomorrow it is to the health club to work out and then do some gun cleaning! Hopefully some shooting on Sunday. Not sure if we'll head over to Braintree R&P or Tyngsboro.

I'll mention it next time I'm in the shop, if somebody doesn't get to 'em first!

Glad to hear some people got out!

and "Surgical Strike" is the ONLY way to fly on back Friday. I was home playin' video games by 0930!

I figure buying graphic novels at Sgt's Comic Book store (NLON CT) doesn't count as a "Black Friday" activity, so...I'm in the "No" bar.
