To all you AR specialists, I have a Colt AR-15 A2 Sporter II. Standard non-collapsible stock, carrying handle. What would I need to bring this up to current M4 specs, or should I leave it alone and enjoy its originality. It's bone stock from the Conn. factory.

only thing you'd really need to do to make it an m4 is make it full auto if it's a 16" variant. to make an ar-15 clone..

if you live in a ban state and it's preban you'll probably need a flat top upper receiver first and foremost.

A Knight's M4 RAS to replace your hand guards will give you the MWS platform. some SOPMOD you'll need a sopmod stock and either a trijicon acog or aimpoint compm2 (m68). those would be the majors off the top of my head..

Keep it as is and have fun with it. ADCO would be an option to lighten it up by contouring the barrel if it is a HBAR and the weight bothers you. Other wise just add mags and ammo they are very hungry. A M4 is very plentiful should you still want one at a later time.

I have my A2 clone set up with a sling and Mag pouch on the stock and that is all I need for a good time.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll probably keep it as is, and maybe look around for an M4 someday. If I can just get over my lever gun fetish right now.
