My shocked face, neither Connecticut nor Massachusetts were considered top picks... [rofl]

Out of 51 states - DC in absolute worst, (yes I know it's not actually a state). MA came in 48th with CT coming in 45th. I was pleased to find GA ranked as third, beaten out only by Alaska and Arizona.

Not a bad article.

It would be interesting to see a comparison of these stats to the level of crime. I would think it could make a pretty strong case for well armed citizens.
I am sure that you're right. I'm equally sure that the socialists who run the anti-gun states will never accept the correlation. I don't really understand how MA is ranked 48 and CA is ranked 46. Living in MA as a gun owner is a lot like willingly setting yourself to be kicked in the rear on a daily basis. Living in CA as a gun owner is like setting yourself up to be kicked in the balls by every member of the Rockettes on a daily basis.

You'd rather get kicked in the balls by maura?

This must have been done before 7/20 because ma got a 1 for modern sporting rifles. Not sure how ma got a 3 for carrying without a permit too.

"Hey, Maura..Have you heard the latest report: that legal guns actually reduce the level of violent crime?...Hello?.. Maura??"

She doesn't GAF. Just pretends to care when it is convenient and can get her political support.

Im shocked that Vermont beat NH and Maine and that RI beat MA but maybe my concept of these states are wrong. Vermonters and NH residents please chime in I am intrigued.

I'm not sure the date matters as this is stupid F***** poll. Meant to prove some point, although I don't know what that point could be. Constitutional carry is their #1 question? NFA is on the list, but their reciprocity isn't? They couldn't even get "Castle Doctrine" right since they used that title, but then described what the media terms "Stand Your Ground", but is more rightly called "Duty to Retreat".

This whole article is just click bait crap.

How old is this stupid article?
Maine only gets a "7" for concealed carry?

Vermont has not permit requirement at all. Open carry, concealed carry, doesn't matter. The only real knock on them is that they have a duty to retreat if it can be done safely. The only other problem is that since they have no permit, Vermonters can't carry in other states unless they can find a state that will issue a non resident permit without requiring a home state permit.

Isn't there something about not carrying in the state capital Montpelier or some shenanigans like that?

yup about sums it up.

The author of that table cites Guns & Ammo's 2014 article as the source and said the table was done for the convenience of not having to click through 51 pages at G&A.

G&A did the same ranking again in 2015 and it is all on one page with a different order than that table shows.
http://www.gunsandammo.com/network-topics/culture-politics-network/best-states-for-gun-owners-2015/

I have been anticipating G&A doing an updated version reflecting the many changes that have happened in the meantime.

BTW just to note that while entertaining to read lists like this really are subjective BS.
Despite passing constitutional carry NH dropped five places on the 2017 list compared to the one in 2015. [hmmm]

Yeah, don't understand Louisiana only getting a 7 for NFA. I'll have to look into it, but pretty sure nothing is restricted here.

I think this is old (maybe 2 years), there are many states with Constitutional Carry.

What is remarkable is that some states are removing restrictions and some are adding them. Federal law remains status quo. It's a Constitutional Crisis and the Supreme Court needs to weigh in. Either the 2nd Amendment is the law of the land, or States can do whatever they want.

Also appears to be un dated and doesnt incorporate con carry in NH

You are apparently reading the earlier version. The NEW HAMPSHIRE paragraph in the current copy reads:

"All it took was the election of a new Governor for the Granite State to join the growing ranks of constitutional carry states. Governor Sununu signed permitless carry legislation in March, bringing New Hampshire up to maximum points for CCW. The state also receives ten points for its Black Gun, NFA and Castle Doctrine statutes. The state has a variety of shooting clubs, though many are members-only. The only real strike against New Hampshire is that one has to run the gauntlet of Massachusetts, New York (via Vermont) or Connecticut to get anywhere."

How the hell does Florida end up 12 and NH 15?

NH has Constitutional permitless carry.....

On the bright side of this 'survey', it seems 41 of 51 states and territories are pretty gun friendly.

It doesn't mention PR or any of the other territories, which are beautiful places, but crime ridden, anti-gun cesspools.
