Best AR for the poors

It’s actually gotta be in Spec first……

I don’t get the love for Anderson. They are absolute hot garbage. Just because “they work” doesn’t mean they are good. Their quality control is non existent and their consistency is even worse. Everyone I help put together for a buddy has some sort of issue. Not thing major, but shit that led to big problems later on.

If you want a gun for the poors, that’s gonna be decent, build it. Spikes in the cheapest I’d go for a lower. Can find em for $100. Super cheap for moderate quality. It’s not in heard of them having issues, just nowhere near the amount PSA and Anderson does.

Good barrels aren’t hard to find. Shit, I just bought a Roscoe for $100.

One bit of straight person sentiment though. Strike Industries stuff. Straight up AIDS. I don’t get judgy about much when it comes to guns. But straight up judge you if you have SI parts on your AR. It’s even harsher when it’s gold/red/blue shit and it’s not a race gun.

Gayer than cum in a mustache
Strike is definitely a 55 gal drum of AIDS. 🤣

Literally the worst LPK I've ever seen, and some of the other strike parts are varying levels of dog shit poor.

Aero's guns are fine. That M4E1 with an Aero upper, PSA CHF barrel, Aero BCG, and a decent trigger and a decent optic can probably be done for about $1000. That's something I would carry into a fight if it were within reach.
Aero complete upper between $4-600 (depending who you buy from).

Aero lower $150 (or were they $200?)

LPK = $50 (can buy Anderson for like $25).

Stock = depends, I like Luth, so around $150.

Buffer ... I don't know, $50?

So $750 to $1,150 depending what upper you buy and you have a nice rifle. This is assuming you don't buy anything on sale and spend $150 on a stock.

AERO uppers seem to be all over on pricing. I see 350 legend for around $450, but 6.5cm for around $600.

.223/556 uppers go on sale often.

I've used Anderson and Spikes. I'm not that into it, but don't see a lot of value in high end lowers. Maybe uppers and triggers if your going long range or something. Really dont care about them that much other than short range shooting and self defense.

Long range I'll pick the bolt gun over anything......

Damn am I a poor? I might be a poor 😂
Wow. All the cool tactical kids these days hold their support arm out straight and c-clamp that long ass free float handguard now. You'll poke your eye out with that long barrel on that carbine gassed build. It looks nice and retro tho and very GWOT. Do you hold it by the magwell too?

Buddy that rifle was given to me by my local PD after it was taken from him for doing things he wasn’t supposed to.

But I bet you feel better 🤣 🤡

In the words of @mibro 'that's quite an emotional response.'

Just saying I was asking where do you hold it cause I was trained to stick your hand almost to the flash hider.

Well your reply was low teir trolling

I dunno I hold it like I hold the LE6920 on the right 🤷🏻‍♂️

The hand guard would absolutely double as a club should Anderson lower or PSA upper fail 🤣

“I was trained”…

Not an option on a GWOT old school M4. Do what works for you, bruh

Bear Creek Arsenal, a complete rifle for less than $400. Simple. works for occasional range trip. Will work in a pinch. Don't expect it to run flawlessly for thousands of rounds or hit a nat's eye at 500 yd. For a simple inexpensive rifle, it can't be beat.

Talking budget rifles, not building - I like something along the lines of the simple sorts of Stag or an M&P (SW). There are other brands that fall into this category too. The key thing is - you just want a good simple rifle from a reputable company - not a free float ambi forward grip backup sites etc.. etc.. Get something that's all figured out, on sale, with an A2 front sight, and put a decent carry handle rear sight on it. Solid, simple, no frills, but reliable. Sometimes you can find blemish ones, ie scratch in the barrel or coating is off color, which are really ideal on a budget.

When you get into building, the key thing is - pick your parts, then find a good deal on them, not basing your parts on what's cheap. The best way to put a garbage AR together (and it takes some doing but people really excel at this) is to source a bunch of cheap no-name parts from different places, then assemble them without using the proper tools or procedures. There is an investment just in tools that is probably a couple hundred or more (depending if you own basic stuff like a vice & torque wrench already and just need AR tools & a headspace set). Building a first rifle, to save $$, basically results in either not saving $$ or garbage.

It's INSANE these entry level, yet reliable ARs go for roughly the same price as Mosins in 2024. Around 2010 a decent AR would run you at least 800-1000 where a Mosin was a hundo, pay an extra $20 for hand pick.

In the late 90s when my friends and I were kids old enough to buy a gun, ARs were too expensive, ie $1500. While AK-ish variants on the other hand, $100 to $250 is what I remember.

But that was around the days of the assault weapons ban, when they imported boat loads of those commie rifles, before the days of the internet (in practical terms) - the whole market around everything has changed dramatically.
