What's the best AR for the poors that actually will run and is reliable? Before all the DD/Noveske/Knights/Radian/SOLGW fan boys start to laugh at the poors, I think we should all try to put as many of these rifles in the hands of as many people, including the poors. With that said, what would be the 'bare minimum' above the flint threshold? S&W Sport? Radical? PSA?

I don't own one but I've shot the PSA AR's and I got nothing bad to say about them, same thing with AERO rifles.

If someone is "poor" they would be fine getting one of these and concentrate on mags and ammo to train and shoot as much as they can, if I had it tough I'd buy one of these and when the time was right I'd buy another upper for the safe and run the shit out of one getting better at shooting

A cheap Anderson lower, a decent parts kit, a properly chambered barrel and a good bolt carrier group.
It can be done for under $600.00.
They call them poverty ponies for a reason.
Fwiw i had a charging handle break and a barrel with a slight bend in it.
Shipped out the handle same day and they sent a new barrel once they got the old one and confirmed issue. Easy, no hasslea, and fast

Are you buying rifles for people?

Me, either.
I mean where do you even put a thousand rounds when you carry?
Most of us don't own machine guns. So what is the worst that can happen. It functions as a single shot. As long as it goes bang.
We own 10 rnd Pmags that function well. We know how to lube, clean and troubleshoot a malfunction in our firearms.
So keep the larping to the larps. The rest of us know we probably will never even shoot a full mag. Nevermind a hundred of them.

Realistically if someone is ActuallyPoor (TM) none of this is happening anyways. They're going to buy their $500 ATI or Radical shithouse dust collector and maybe 2 or 3 mags, and theyre going to bring it to the sandpit and shoot it a few times and then its going to collect dust because they can't afford to shoot it that much.

I always likened it to trap or skeet or idpa. Training with ars sharpen skills but are fun for those people. I love building them and shooting but running drills or running in general isn't happening.

Using this type of shitlogic you could literally make excuses for everything. [rofl]

"imma fine with accepting/buying/tolerating trash because ill never use it" [rofl]

This is the literal reason why america is going into the shitter. Nobody has even like a c*** hair of pride in anything anymore. trash cuz its cheapah. [rofl]

"worse case its one shot" defeatist, shitty horrible distinctly american mentality around everything these days.

"It's OK if it sucks, because it was cheaper. "

[rofl]

I get it. But your average firearm owner goes to the range and shoots a few hundred rounds at a paper target and goes home.
Training is great. But you have to keep up with it to stay proficient.
With the right quality parts. You can assemble a very reliable rifle with simple tools if you have some basic mechanical abilities.
And you can do it at a very reasonable price point if you avoid the Gucci parts suppliers.

And by your logic then a ten thousand dollar rifle, is the only answer.
Go big or go home!
You must own the best of everything.[rofl2]

There's certainly a sweet spot for AR prices. The tradeoff with PSA for example is you probably want to reinstall your barrel nut because they're always over torqued from the factory and check for odd wear every 500 rounds, since some people's guns seem to eat themselves by 5k rounds.

You're simply not going to get a good complete AR for $400. Not gonna happen. But double that number and DIY and it's totally doable to build a gun that will last a long time.

I didn't say that, at all.

Just responding to your horrible shitlogic. "ZOMG NOBODY CARRIES AROUND THOUSANDS OF ROUNDS" what kind of bullshit is that? [rofl]

I actually own a bunch of Aero stuff and shit like that, most of my stuff is strictly mid at best, nothing exciting. But also nothing I have to worry about
falling apart, either, if I need it to work.

If someone is going to be Johnny 3 box, then sure, they should def just buy whatever cheapest BCA, ATI, Radical f***o shit that exists, because it doesnt matter. That gun is getting fired once a year and it will collect dust. they're just going to make noise and if it brings them joy then fine. I get it. But at the same token I have no sympathy when these people cry when nobody will give them a dime for their pile of junk they bought.

Aero's guns are fine. That M4E1 with an Aero upper, PSA CHF barrel, Aero BCG, and a decent trigger and a decent optic can probably be done for about $1000. That's something I would carry into a fight if it were within reach.

Anderson lower with a Chad Colt upper.

I did a Rad firearms upper and Colt lower then eventually grabbed a Colt upper and had a respectable Franken-Colt.

Cheap sh*t ends up costing in the long run.
My friend is on his third "cheap" scope because he keeps buying $100-150 scopes. When he could have purchased a much nicer $450 sight the first time.

Cheap magnified glass is f***ing horrible.

Like horrible enough to ruin a rifle. In the experience of, like, you will stop shooting the rifle if it has shitty glass on it. Then the gun becomes useless.

I tell people "don't bother buying a bolt gun or whatever unless you're planning spending AT LEAST 75% of the value of the gun on the glass, theres exceptions but usually most attempts at flinting result in despair. Usually the glass is either equal or more than the guns value.

Like despair like "why is the picture so f***ing like dark even though its full sunlight out" or "why is everything out of focus all the time" etc. so on.

or despair like "having turrets that arent labeled and indexed properly for repeatable changes in elevation and windage"

Like I literally sold a rifle because I couldnt afford to put the correct glass on it at the time. So I said fucck it and just sold the whole thing, because I knew I was never going to
shoot it again with that 100 dollar chinese shitf***er scope on it.

That being said, most people don't need a $2.5K AR.

True enough.

LOL, I am 68 and go to the range 2 or 3 times a week. You don’t have to fire 100’s of rounds, sometime I only fire a few rounds then sit around a bullshit if anyone is available. I really enjoy shooting and the whole concept of guns, hunting, etc.
