Thinking about these for a carry gun. Anyone have opinions? I do own a 92fs brig in inox and love it. I don't know if these others will be comparable and the 84 cheetah as reliable?

have you been able to find 92FS compact L or M's in MA? I haven't. If you do, let me know as I've been trying to find one for some time.. .

So long as it's not a Glock I prefer my Beretta 96FS Centurion.

I was always under the impression that the "FS" designation meant "full size", so a Beretta 92FS compact would be a contradiction in terms...

no the FS is a designation, not an acronym for Full Size. The F denotes a DA/SA action (an extension of the original 92S), the S in the FS designation indicates that it has the slide safety pin.

The 92D is double action only, 92G is DA/SA with decock only

They pop up every now and again like Brigadiers do. I'm just wondering what the differences are. The beretta 84 can be bought new. I think.

Thank you for the clarification. I don't own one yet but was told that by a gun store when I was looking for mags for my Keltec Sub2k, which uses those mags. I do want to get a 92FS at some point though because I have a bunch of mags now, and it would be great to have a sidearm sharing the same mags as the carbine.

the Beretta compact version of the 92FS is the 8000, in different variants, also known as the Stoeger Cougar 8000.

My Beretta 8000 would be the next to last gun I sold if I had to liquidate, I really like that gun, and would at some point like to find a 92FS for sale FTF in NH.

The 9000 is a sub compact, kinds of reminds me of my old M&P9c, I have a 9000 and it would be the first gun I would sell... hell if I could dump the thing now it would be gone. I like my Glock 26 much better.

PS you couldn't give me anything in .380

Baretta's "compact" gun is the 9000. I had one for awhile. I got a nasty bit of hammer bite from it.

the 8000 and 9000 is a different family of guns than the 92 series.

The specific compact 92 version is called the Compact L or Compact M. the M is a shortened single stack 92FS with 8 rounds. The L version has the same shortened slide & barrel as the M but has a 13 round capacity.

the 8000 holds 15 round mags, I have 1 15, 3 10's, and Beretta just made a new batch of 15's so I might pick up a couple.

Just my opinion, but if your gonna go that large for a carry, I would go with the Sig P226 SAS. Beautiful gun, and sometimes you can find the 15rd 228 mags for it!

I think you have that backwards.
The 228 is the compact version of the 226. The 228 mags are shorter and won't fit the 226.
The 226 mags will fit the 228 but stick out below the bottom of the grip frame.

Unfortunately.. I bought a mosqito.... I love everything about it other than I never know when it may actually work correctly??????? The Beretta are nice and work every time.
