looks better to me.....anything looks better than the left photo with untreated rifle syphilis.

how did you re-finish the stock?

I'm in the opposite camp, I like the original. That looks way too lacquered up for my tastes.

Sanded it all down stained it with jobawood color stain and I think it was 12 coats of tung oil sealer over about 6 days feels great not to smooth the tung oil worked great.

The T53 has so much character. Leave the next one alone!

Not bad, little too much lacquer but it's yours.
