thats funny, I was fixing some stuff at waverley oaks athletic club the same day. I haven't visited the brewery yet, but I have had their Cloud Candy in cans. I like it, if you are into NE style IPA give it a try.

$12.50 at the visitors center (plus $0.76 Vermont sales tax).

Heady Topper & Focal Banger are also readily available at packies near Stowe, but if you want their other beers, you have to go to the source. Right now they have two stouts and a wit, but most of Alchemist's production (and all of their distribution) is 100% IPA.

The Sterk Wit you speak of may be my favorite of them all from Alchemist. Heading to Stowe in a couple hours and will have to pick some up after the ritual lunch at Trapp Bierhall.

    Just missed me.

I stopped in at Von Trapp Bierhall on the way out of Stowe, but they had just sold out of the Weissbier, so I left empty-handed (but with a full stomach).

We always stop at Trapp. The food is great there and their year round beers are pretty damn good too.

I appreciate good beer and even more than that a brewery that stands behind their product.
I emailed Oskar Blues brewery asking about their Canned On date and how long the beer should be good for. I had bought a six pack of Dale’s Pale Ale canned in August of last year.
I should’ve know better to look for the date but was in a rush.
Oskar Blues response was to send me a t shirt, stickers and 3 can coozies. They also told me that the beer was best before 4 months after canning if kept cold.

Most beer has near infinite shelf life, though after a few months it may not be enjoyable. This is particularly true for IPAs.

TMK, craft breweries (or their cannery) will usually flash pasteurize cans; distributors tend to be unhappy when beer explodes in transit.

While it may have infinite shelf life, time does change the taste. Sometimes for the better, sometimes not so much.

Hops are the quickest to break down and change flavor, usually for the worse. Hence the drinking IPA's fresh line of thinking. If you want to cellar beer, the rule of thumb is darker and higher ABV. I maintain a modest cellar that is mostly stouts and imperial stouts, some barley-wine, ultra-high ABV stuff like 120 minute IPA, and some Trappist stuff. Once in a while, we do a ladder tasting with annual releases from 5 consecutive years. That's where I find the big drop off in quality, around 4-5 years in those types of beer. Popped a Belgian Quad at 10 years and it was amazing.

Visited 1766 Brewing Co. in Plymouth, NH this afternoon after hiking Stinson Mountain. 1766's brewery is on NH25 near the big rotary near Rumney. They also have a restaurant at 61 Main near the Plymouth town common.

Nice place to visit if you're in the area. I tried their schwarzbier and red ale.

Made a trip to VT over the weekend. Hit up Alchemist, Zero Gravity, Lawsons, Foam, Frost and Burlington Beer Company. The later 3 are unbelievably good and I highly recommend. Got a few to go :)

I've had 5 beers since Easter. I'm kind of stuck on scotch, rum and bourbon right now. Me and the boys are brewing 40 gallons Saturday, DIPA, Scotch Ale (our best beer), RIS and a tavern ale from the run off

Tried Wormtown's Be Hoppy on Saturday. It was OK.
I am going to start making my second brewed batch (NEIPA) next weekend if I am not pooped from Steel Challenge.

Anyone been to Spyglass lately? My last trip was March 15 but I am going to be in the area after work and was thinking of picking up a fill for Saturday night.

I'm going. I know some of the local NH brewers.

    Should be a good time!

I’ve never contacted a brewery about a bad beer until today. This stuff reeks of urine. I don’t believe it slipped past QC. They knowingly shipped it like this. Hopped cat piss.
