"Hey, that bear looks hungry, aggressive and really damn strong. I think I'll go out in the backyard and film it from pretty damn close...."

    "Take your 9mm, honey."

I've found multiple "fresh" deer carcasses in the woods lately, in a park where I had never seen one previously. Makes you appreciate being at the top of the food chain - it would truly suck to wake up every day, or go to bed every night not knowing if you were going to get eaten alive.

You want to give yourself nightmares - there's a story you can easily find on the net of a Russian girl calling her mother on her cell phone as she's eaten alive by bears - for an hour. Father already killed by the bear.

I had a vivid dream once of being attacked by a pack of wolves in a snowy forest. I had only a spear to defend myself in a desperate fight for survival. I woke with the sense I'd somehow dreamed an actual experience of one of my ancestors.

    Firearms are good. [grin]

I've always thought that was a misnomer. Just look at what a pack of hogs can to to a person. Even when advantaged with a rifle. One gores you ankle, then when you hit the ground the pack starts eating you alive. Don't be to complacent. If most people ever went toe to toe with most of the predators in the woods. They would be the eaten not the eaters.

When I sat toe to toe, I mean carrying nothing but what you were born with. Just like the animals. I'm a hunter, but I don't go for so much as a stroll through the sq. mile of woods behind my house w/o a rifle on my back.

Not for nuthin', but how stupid is the person with the camera? I would want a lot of concrete or iron bars between me and that episode. Once that deer is dispatched, the bear is going to want to protect it's kill, from him.

Good point. That's why I avoid places where my TOTFC status is in question.

Is that a young bear, or a large deer?

I'm no expert but I thought bears were generally bigger than that?
