I don’t climb trees. Eff that I’ll stay on the ground and kill less deer. Perfectly fine with that.

My guess would be that he either tried to adjust the cable on the fly or he didn’t have the cable locked in for the upper platform.
A safety harness would have come in handy.

+1 On this. I had a couple stands, and realized that one thing that ruined the fun of a hunt was listening to trees crack while you're swaying in the wind above rocks - that and it is BORING! I dumped my stands and now still hunt, getting absolutely nothing, but having a TON more fun.
OP - I have no idea what is going on with this picture.

From what I read, the guys upper climber cable failed and he fell back with his leg getting hung up under the lower cable platform cable. He didn’t have a harness on, the theme of this picture.
looks painful. Body is not meant to end that way...
