Credit Card Club points = free ammo
It’s not free.
When I go to my LGS and say "I'd like to buy this case of ammo, what's your cash price?" and they reply "Same as credit", then yes, it is free to me.

With Cabela' selling 22lr at 7¢/round, damn straight I'm buying ammo at BPS/Cabela's and raking in the CC points.

Club points are barely worth it. I also have their card and the only reason I didn't close it is because it is my oldest credit line.

I rarely use club points, only when their price is the same as everywhere else, which is not very often and getting very rare.

Paying 25% more a box on ammo and claiming you're getting it free is wild.
odd comment since I'm not paying anything for it.

yeah.. when I was working there PT getting their great discount, it was definitely worth it.. I generally don't buy much there anymore since I left, and usually use points when I do.

I've used points on guns, ammo, and reloading supplies, among other things. Last thing I got was a Maglula. Same price as online, but the payment didn't come out of my bank acct. Not sure how that is not free, regardless of how much someone else sells it for.

I don't know of any places near me with the selection of hunting/fishing stuff. The LGS have such small selections of products and for specialty items I order online.

so if you have a club card with $100 in points, what do you do.. do you go get the $100 item at another store and pay $75 from your debit, or go to BPS for it and don't touch your debit card?

I'm pretty financially smart, but with some of these comments, I feel like I'm missing something..

You’re doing it wrong. Pay your mortgage and miscellaneous bills with the cabelas card, then transfer from your bank account each month to pay off the balance in full. This results in 0% interest on the card but racking up a ton of points. I bank the points for a year at a time and then grab something nice for free. My most recent free purchase was a Benelli m4.

My sister does this same song and dance with her southwest card and gets a free companion pass out of it every year.

You just need to find a card that racks up points that you would actually use. I like free guns so I do the song and dance with Cabelas.

1. I never carry a balance. In over 20 years I haven't paid interest to a CC once.

2. I can't pay my mortgage with a CC, I tried.

None of what you mentioned has anything to do with what I posted. So let me give you an example:
Shop A has a sight for $300. Best price I can find.
A**Pro has the same sight for $400.

If I have $200 in points, I will not waste them on a $400 sight so it can be $100 cheaper than Shop A, because f*ck A** Pro.

I did use club points on a rifle because it was a little cheaper tham anywhere else, so I saved a little over $400.

But I also use other cards that give me money and even allow me to use it toward a balance, which I find more useful than the A** Pro card.

well if that's the real reason, then change CC cards, cash out your points into a gift card and send it to me.. I will PM my address.. 🤣 🤣

A** Pro has horrible prices, but once in a while they have a gun or scope at a decent price, that is when I use them.

But my other cards that allow for more flexibility get used more.

I get 5% back when I buy gas and 12 or 18 months 0% interest on any purchase over $400, in fact I just paid off the Ruger .22 revolver I got last Summer no interest, so the thought of giving up that for 1% for Cabela's points is retarded. If I want free ammo that bad I'll get a gift card with the points I rack up filling my tank.

Yup. Plenty of cards give back more money that can also be used for ammo.

My only reason for keeping my A** Pro card is it is my oldest credit line.
