Ban on all semi auto rifles on deck

"The new law doesn’t prohibit federal authorities from conducting investigations in the state and making arrests related to firearms law. It also includes exemptions allowing state and local law enforcement to cooperate with federal authorities if there is “reasonable suspicion” that a suspect had violated state laws"

Then the law is fvcking USELESS!!!

Anti's are starting to drop the "Assault Weapon" verbiage in favor of focusing on semi-automatics. They are going to push putting semi autos onto the NFA and require a $200 tax stamp to buy a Glock or an AR. With how the GOP folded with the gun control bill that passed last month, don't put it past the RINOs in the McConnell wing to yield to legislation restricting semi autos in the near future, especially after a school shooting.
Well, look on the bright side. Revolvers don't leave shell casings...unless you empty it there.

Well that would really suck for those of us living in RI, considering all NFA items are already banned here: "In Rhode Island it is illegal to own any NFA weapon. The only exception is Class III FFLs."

I wonder if Maine and maybe Vermont would join up?
Most of Maine, geographically, would. Same with VT to an extent. There would have to be a lot of people ‘sent away’ but it shouldn’t be too hard, as they don’t like guns anyways.

and require a $200 tax stamp to buy a Glock or
a 1000% that, as it is inexcusable from the position of the government to allow you making purchases without an additional taxation.
'taxation without representation' was and will remain the ultimate driver.

You all realize that Marijuana is illegal at the federal level, right?
That all those states that have decriminalized it, and other more powerful narcotics are giving a big middle finger to the feds.
Same for illegals and giving them voting and other rights that only citizens get.
So they can ban anything they want, but it don't mean squat unless they can enforce it.
Unless you all turtle and comply.
Ranges would comply, particularly in the Northeast. They are risk-averse. Regardless of how many Gadsden flags you fly, how much Carhartt you wear, how many ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ stickers you have on your truck, or how many tough-guy posts you make on NES daily, you would not be able to shoot anywhere other than on your own secluded private range.

Plus the FFL's and maunfacturers would all shut down sales instantly. Sure you could 3d print a lower, and for a while you could probably find parts to finish the rifle but that wouldn't last. Pretty soon the parts would all be dried up and now the supply is finite and dwindling. One generation and the idea of owning anything like that would be considered crazy.

IMHO, unless you are ultra wealthy, counting on HB1178 to save you is a unwise choice. Section 2 is so broad, that the police could assist on almost anything.

Democrat Rep. Cindy Axne Voices Support for Banning ‘Semi-Automatic’ Weapons

Iowa Rep. Cindy Axne (D) signaled support for a ban on “semi-automatic” weapons during a tele-town hall with constituents on July 6, 2022.

The Daily Caller reported Axne’s statements on July 21, noting that she claimed, “The issue is the fact that it’s guns and the problem is we should not have semi-automatic weapons in anything other than warfare.”

Axne then inferred her support for gun control that would get rid of semi-automatic firearms, saying, “So here is the deal, they need to go away, and I will continue to push for that and to continue to push for the bills that we tried to get into our Protecting Our Kids Act, which was the one we had out of our House side that didn’t make it through in the Senate.”

Continues...

Breitbart News also pointed out that the sponsor of the ban, Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI), argued Wednesday that stabilizer braces turn an AR-pistol into an “automatic weapon.”

Cicilline claimed that a stabilizing brace “becomes a bump stock” which allows AR pistols to “be fired like an automatic weapon.”

I’m kind of hoping they do it with no grandfather clause or at least mandatory registration. I’m getting bored waiting around - let’s get on with it. Besides, with 5 or 10 years of no supply the inevitable becomes a lot more painful.

Not all voters are one issue voters even Republican voters. If you only have one GOP candidate running

as a Republican voter are you going to vote Democrat just for spite?

If it's somebody like Romney then yes because he's as trustworthy as a Democrat, even Cocaine Mitch I'd rather put a Democrat in his spot because the benefit of dumping some of these Uniparty RINO's that are in deep red states means the incumbent Dem is done after 6 years and the chance for replacing the old RINO senator with someone better in the future is worth doing rather than re-electing the same RINO shithead for 30 years.

Ideally these Swamp RINO's would be defeated in the primaries, but seeing how Senators like Thune, Murkowski (they tried in 2010 to dump her, but she won with a write in campaign), even Rubio, who we know is as milk toast as Romney is, they never get dumped in the primaries. At some point when the Republicans won't weed thru their own shithead politicians and dump them in the primary, then come the general you gotta throw the baby out with the bathwater.
