Kingman Police said a homeowner was within his rights when he held a suspect at gunpoint after the man had entered his home early Wednesday morning.
Capt. Rusty Cooper said dispatch received a 911 call from a woman who reported that her husband had confronted a burglar in their kitchen. The couple and their daughter were reportedly alerted to the suspect's presence when their dog began to bark.
Cooper said the suspect, 22-year-old Cameron James Hawthorne, did not fight the homeowner and complied with his requests. Cooper said it appeared Hawthorne was under the influence of drugs at the time.
Cooper said the homeowner, a man in his mid-30s, was within his legal rights to threaten the use of lethal force.
