It's largely because of Hollywood logic being applied to firearms..... for example a lot of people have survived being shot in the head because they pretty much took something that's borderline weak like a 38 snub revolver and basically pressed it up against their skull in a hard place and pulled the trigger.. not realizing that it's like the hardest bone in their body and then they wake up like 10 minutes later realizing they just scalped themselves with a bullet instead of dying.....

Reminds me of this poor SOB I learned about in an Intro to Neuroscience course...Back in the '90' a construction worker on the Jamaca parkway hit a tree and launched a 4 foot , 35 lb, 1" pinch bar thru the back window of the truck hit him in his occipital bone out his prefrontal cortex and stuck on the windshield. Interesting extraction, he lived though..
Kid in high school back in the 80's. Took a shotgun to his stomach and blew his left side off, lost his kidney, bunch of other problems. Yea he f***ed it up.
I know a guy like that too, although he's just blind. He's been sober ever since. He says these have been the best years of his life. Blind and sober vs sighted and a falling down drunk.
You can create a diabolical "Saw" device with all three next to each other with different widths of string/elastic tension to compensate for the various trigger pulls so you know you won't botch it

I wonder if this holds true to people who chose medically assisted suicide and have a few minutes of lucid consciousness after they take the death drink.
In Canada, if a soldier seeks help for PTSD, the first "treatment" doctors offer now is death. Canada's ever expanding list of who qualifies for Doctor Murder (euthanasia, or MAID) includes healthy people who are physically disabled or mentally ill. Age is down to 12 years old, plus infants to about 2 years.
