Submitted my form 1 on July 9 2020 for an SBR CZ Scorpion 9mm. Did on the e-file system electronically. This was not a trust. Called once middle of September and ATF employee who I spoke with could give me no information other than it was still in process. Checked the electronic system again today and it's still "submitted/in-process". At the time processing time was approx. 60 days. We're at almost 120 days. WTF? I know things are probably backed up with background checks and such, but anyone else experiencing extended Form 1 wait times?

I’ve just submitted a few, myself in the past couple days. But from what I’ve been reading on Reddit/r/nfa, there have been an increased number of people who get “lost” with FBI for the background check. I can only assume it’s because of the record number of gun sales happening this year.

There are still 20-60 day approvals happening, but some people get unlucky and have had to use their congressional representatives to poke the ATF. Being in MA, I doubt our Congress people would be inclined to help you.

My guess is your packet fell off a stack somewhere (literally or metaphorically).

Edit: Also, there’s this for review/discussion:ATF eForm 1 mega thread. Process and approvals!

Thanks for that. I never noticed that thread.

Just submitted mine today for an SBR. Had my fingerprints taken at my local PD. Under reasons for fingerprinting the machine typed firearms licensing, I wrote underneath ATF Form 1 Application. Would this be a reason for a spitback on the FD-258?

I wouldn't think so. Thier system may only have firearm licensing as a lawful purpose to choose. Other options could have been arrest options. Just a thought

I can generally tell you most of the 'non-essential' federal workers are probably working from home. I can only imagine the throughput of a office wonk sitting at home. They are so productive in the office. I do have a cutout for a lot of the mission support specialists, they tend to still get things done.
