Law enforcement in Mexico is Mexico’s problem and their jurisdiction, not ours. The last thing we need is to get drawn into yet another failed state.
Perhaps you misunderstood me. The phrase “failed state” is using the word “state” as follows:We can't even handle law enforcement in the United States, let alone in another country. Mexico isn't just another state, it's a very large country.
But which class did it fail? Economics? Criminal Justice?
When local authorities are literally outgunned by the cartels, who have superior weaponry, I don't think sanctions are really going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back to get them to "clean up."I'd love to see Trump roll out serious sanctions against Mexico. Maybe throttle outbound wire transfers until they clean up their act.

So now we can expect Mittens lead a Mormon commando force to creep into Mexico and wipe the floor of cartels?Did anyone see the Vice documentary about the Mormon colony in Mexico that Mitt Romney's family was associated with? Pretty hardcore , one patriarch leader of the colony
sent a death squad up to the US at one point to settle some scores with a breakaway sect.
The Mexican Mormon War
The cartels of Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, are at war with a group of Mormons, some of whom are related to Mitt Romney.www.vice.com

Like California.Law enforcement in Mexico is Mexico’s problem and their jurisdiction, not ours. The last thing we need is to get drawn into yet another failed state.
Not even close.Like California.
Not even close.
I was in Silicon Valley this summer. CA absolutely has huge issues — power cutoffs, homeless, outrageous housing costs, etc.
But there is still a basic rule of law. The US Army isn’t patrolling the streets of CA. The local police aren’t being outgunned by cartel members in technicals with an M2 pintel-mounted in the bed.
Many of us, myself included, like to crap on CA, but the reality is that I would happily take a nice long road trip vacation in CA and drive from OR to San Diego. In contrast, I won’t set foot in Mexico.
Just a bunch of cars with the same departure and arrival points driving near each other on the road. Hardly what one thinks of when using that term.traveling in a motorcade? maybe they were wealthy, or even drug families, or maybe it was mistaken identity?

We already have endless wars in the failed states of Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq. We don’t need another one. Invade Mexico because a dozen US citizens are dumb enough to live in Mexico? No thanks.like I said what ever it takes....

We can’t fix Mexico and we have no business trying. It is up to the Mexicans to fix their country.
You can’t win a guerrilla war quickly. Even if you did “win” quickly, you then have to fix the failed state, which would take decades, cost billions, and still probably fail. If you just pull out after “winning”, then the insurgents and cartels will just reform.I'm all for ending the war on drugs. However, if that isn't going to happen, let's have a friggen war - with air support, the whole 9 yards. Get it done quickly.
We should've owned Mexico by now.
