Article: Facebook And Instagram In Talks With Gun Control Advocates Seeking To Ban Gun Sales On Soci

If facebook pulls this, I will make a point of selling something on there in order to get kicked off for good.

So how are they going to enforce it? are they going to flag everything with the word "gun" in it?

How in the H E double gretskys is this 'gun sense' . They are just going after FB, because they can't take down armslist yet. There are firearm groups on there, and like NES they have a classifieds area.....

Perhaps a few million law-abiding gun owners can all contact Facebook, and let them know that there's absolutely nothing illegal for posting items for sale ANYWHERE, and suggest they not kowtow to the moms and mayors.

I think this is a great idea, lets also stop people from posting PORN on facebook... specifically the crap that 90% of teen girls are posting up there... and I am sure we can eventually block anything and everything that is offensive which is of course... 90% of what facebook does...

Why in the hell would any business want to alienate any customers? are more people going to sign up for facebook to offset the amount of people that will cancel their membership out of principle alone? I doubt it... business is business, politics are politics..

Unreal. With all the issues the FB cesspool brings to the plate, these mom's are picking on gun shop ads and enthusiast?

It is not illegal to advertize that you are selling a firearm on FB is it? As long as you do a FA10 or go to a FFL when the transaction is made?

Nope. Just like advertising on NES, Gunbroker, or any other site, as long as the actual transfer of the gun follows all applicable laws you're fine. Obviously FB and other social networking sites could decide to make advertising guns against their terms of use, but if you violate it all they can do is close down your account.

It wouldn't bother me if they took all advertising off FB and the whole internet. It's annoying

Unfortunately the internet can be a benefit and a disservice at the same time. I remember looking on the web some years back for some Bambi pictures on google images to put on my daughters Bday invitation cards we were going to make with her looking over my shoulder to choose. I was so embarrassed on what came up. Children under 14 are not supposed to get accounts on FB but the kids gravitate to it like its candy as soon as they have internet access either through a PC, smartphone, tablet, etc. I know parents that look at the internet like a baby sitter. In general if the kids are quiet and not bothering them, they pay no attention to what their kids are doing on the web. Knowing what we know about the web and the predators that lurk, a responsibly secured firearm in the home is becoming more of a necessity in the modern times. If the “mom’s” want to fight a good cause, they should ask that firearm safety be as important as sex and drug education in our schools and communities. Guns are not the issue but ignorance is.

These moms need jobs. Too busy all day staying home with the kids.

Hey! Go easy there, I was a stay at home dad for a year! Of course, I got my C and R FFL that year and had guns shipped to my door. It was awesome!!! Hey sweetie, look what daddy just got! Hey, why are you scrunching your nose up baby, that wonderful smell is cosmoline!

I am trying to understand how they know there is a problem. The only incident they report on is where an undercover posts a firearm for sale and a convicted felon tries to buy it. Where is the proof that any transaction(s) facilitated by Facebook are in violation of state or federal law?

It would when you started having to pay for all content, or when that content disappeared. Better to use Adblock software and let the suckers see it.
