I've been considering trying to get some sort of handgun in .30 carbine. There's a Ruger revolver, and that Automag monstrosity. I think the revolver is probably a better bet.

Not at the same time... Observed in the act of two crimes by a duly ordained police officer: Observed carrying; carrying charge. Observed stashing under vehicle seat; improper storage charge.

The friend being charged for the same stuff may be a bit of liberal reporting... If the second guy was not observed carrying then that charge doesn't apply, I'd imagine.

BATFE bugaboo is with AP or semi-AP that can be fired from a handgun. Find an obscure Polish handgun that shoots 5.56NATO, ban M855 and M193 because they have steel in the projjie.
I doubt any commercially available .30 Carbine has steel penetrators in the projectile.

I hear mixed opinions on the Ruger Blackhawk 30 carbine revolver. A friend of mine bought one and ended up selling it soon after because the cases were almost impossible to extract from the cylinder. He also said it was insanely loud, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Saw one at Hunters Trading Post maybe 10 years ago....I think he was asking 500. No way it can be worth 5K. Or otherwise someone needs to kick me in the balls for NOT buying it when I had the chance.

How much was a Colt series 70 ten years ago? How much now?

Maybe if it's pristine but even that would be a stretch I think. I have owned a couple of them over the years, they're like handheld flamethrowers. I think B&K had one in 9mm Win Mag ( which I think is rarer) for like 2500.
