Are training certificates addictive?

Since I've never actually gotten into formal training before, I fear I may have stumbled into something more addictive then I anticipated.

Having completed the NRA basic pistol and personal protection in the home courses, I found myself carefully slipping my hard earned certificates into the plastic sleeve of a small presentation folder for safe keeping. Then I looked at the rest of the empty sleeves and they seemed to be beckoning for more certificates.

Soon I caught myself bookmarking web pages for schools such as sigarms academy and LFI with a frightening disregard for the price tags attached to the courses.

Should I look for a 12 step program for this or just go with it? [smile]

[laugh2] Iffn' ya got the $$'s to do it - go for it bunkie!! You can never have enough training.

Oh, there are plenty of things I could spend money on otherwise and I'd have to save up for some of those classes, but it's still a good feeling to get more know how. Still, I might have thought someone crazy for spending 400, 600 or 800 bucks on a shooting class but now I can see how someone could get the bug. [wink]

If you're just interested in the certificates, I'm sure that I could come up with a whole bunch for you at really discounted prices (compared with actually takng the training).

Heh. It's a thought, but it's better if they actually represent something.

That's what the teachers are doing, why the hell not. [rofl]

The being addicted to certificates part was just a joke, but if civilians are paying 800 bucks for a course, there does have to be something addictive about it on some level. Some of the course fees are pretty steep.
