Are there any vertical grips with bipod that are also collapsible?

Are there any such items out there? I am looking to put it on my AR15 build. By collapsible I mean being able to push the grip forward to allow a lower profile if it were to be rested on something other than the grip/bipod.

Yes the model I've used is the Grip Pod. Personally I prefer the traditional Knights Armament grip, but if you're in MA it's illegal because of the AWB....

Why? VFGs of any kind are not evil features under the AWB. They don't "count" for anything, so I don't see why they would be illegal.

I have never seen one that does both, but the Mako Grip pod is really sweet, and has a quick release button, so you can take it off in a second. I have one that I use with my folding Keltec Sub2000, because I like to keep the rifle as compact as possible, but when I want to bipod (or front grip), I just snap it right on.

Taken from GOAL's AWB page:

The definition of “assault weapon” is the same as the federal law that went into effect on September 13, 1994. Specific guns are banned by name, and guns with certain combinations of features are banned:
a semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of--
(i) a folding or telescoping stock;
(ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon
;
(iii) a bayonet mount;
(iv) a flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor; and
(v) a grenade launcher

#2 fits the description of a forward grip, and on an AR15, the actual pistol grip counts as one of those features. If you add another grip, that is a violation of the AWB.

Or at least my limited legal knowledge tells me that.

no... a pistol grip is not a VFG.

Bipods are for mall ninja's and pictures.

Why? Section (ii) is already counted for the actual grip. Why count it twice? If you had 2 mags coupled together, that wouldn't count twice.

BTW, for those interested in USPSA rifle competition, a foward grip that has a bi-pod as part of it is considered a 'bi-pod', even if you don't deploy it, under the rules it's a bi-pod device which puts you into Open division.

A vfg is not a pistol grip. Nor is it typically located beneath the action.
