Does anyone know any details about this plan to ban AR-15 style rifles in MA? I remember reading something about it after that guy shot up that strip club in New Bedford and there's a comment about the proposed bill on the FSguns site. [rolleyes]

It's threats like this that should propel all of us to throw another check in the mail to GOAL.

I only saw a short blurb on FSGuns' page, and nothing on GOAL, but in any case my GOAL membership application goes into the mail tomorrow!

One thing to remember is that there are always gun bans drawn up
during just about every legislative session by pieces of shit like Linksy,
Creem, Fargo, etc, or any of the other brady fume breathers in our
legislature. It doesn't mean the bill will have enough inertia to pass,
but it is still worth looking at them to see how potentially dangerous
they are. GOAL usually will tell members when there is a bill that looks
like it has a chance in hell of passing.

The ones to pay special attention to are bills that sound like they
would not take a lot of money to implement; eg, something that
just changes a line in an existing law, etc. The antis know that
their success rate can be higher by trying to sweep something
under the rug or pad it onto an existing bill.

Perhaps you are thinking of this story?

Even if not, you can expect MCOPA to put forth the same story based on IACP and push for another ban (probably to ban them all including what we currently own). [Oh yeah, don't forget to donate to MCOPA/IACP when they call/write you . . . help fund their gun grab!] [pot] [rolleyes]

That new AWB is the McCarthy Bill. There's a MA bill being planned that specifically targets AR-15 style rifles. MCOPA and ICPA only push for this crap so they can make money and please their poltical connections that got them the job.

I will not f'ing get rid of mine. I will store it in a Free State if I have to.

Am I correct if I say they cannot come door to door and collect them, they can only ban future purchases and all AR-15 style rifles purchased prior to the actual ban will be lawful?

I just re-newed this weekend.

No, they could theoretically confiscate or demand you cripple the gun to avoid jail (they've done this in CA). Not saying any such law would truly be constitutional, but you can always find a judge that will "look the other way" when it comes to guns.

Likely that they will go door to door? Not very likely at all, but certainly not impossible in places like Meninostan (they'd only go after the few legal LTC holders and ignore the gang-bangers as always).

Hey, I just got mine! No way are they taking mine away either. I haven't even had a chance to get good with it yet.

Even if they don't go door to door to get them, it still leaves me with a big problem though... I can't exactly take it down to the range and use it since everyone would immediately recognize it as an "illegal" gun. Nor could I put it in the car and drive up to a range in NH since there's always the chance of being pulled over. It'd basically become useless and I'd have no choice but to move.

Confiscate: NOLA after Katrina

Confiscate: CA with SKS. The allowed an extended registration, later used that info to confiscate or threaten jail.

So according to you, they asked people to register thier SKS's and then used that info to confiscate or threaten jail ?

You sure about that ?

Again,please cite sources.

Greg,

I hate to say "I read it on the Internet", but that is the truth. I think I may have looked at some "source documents" (letters ordering turn in or go to jail), but didn't keep that stuff. I'm not real interested in what goes on in the "land of fruits and nuts", we have enough problems here.

Since you don't want to search for yourself, here are a few sources readily found with Google on "SKS Confiscation".
