Appleseed - July 30/31 at Harvard Sportsmen's Club

To all who signed up for this weekend, or want to, and are torn between being at Appleseed and being at the statehouse: We will give free admission at the next Harvard shoot (a one day on Sept 18th) to anyone who is at the statehouse Saturday instead of being at the Appleseed.

Is this still happening because of the rally on Saturday?
Yes. Shoot is still on - We're not going to cancel when we've got paid customers, but see the post immediately above yours.

We (Appleseed) encourage civic involvement. If you skip Saturday because you're at the State House doing civic involvement things, he's going to give you free admission to the Sept 18th 1-day Appleseed at Harvard.

Hi MetalgodZ,
I was planning on going to the Saturday event so I emailed [email protected] and they canceled my admission. I didn't see this post until now. I signed back up for the the 2 day this weekend. I'll be there Sunday!

Join in on Sunday. Great instuction/history at the Appleseed events.

This would be my second Appleseed event. The first was the epic Winterseed (https://www.northeastshooters.com/v...nterseed!!-Harvard-MA-Sunday-February-15-2015) under the tutelage of hbennet and aim.

The second Appleseed again under the tutelage of aim, lupis42, and hbennet along with hbennet's son and several other instructors for which I do not know their NES screen names (I apologize) was this past weekend.

I was able to attain the Rifleman's score with some consistency with the somewhat more favorable weather [grin] Thanks to all of the instructors for the fantastic instruction. Kudos to them being able to quickly identify areas I needed to make corrections (sometimes having to remind me repeatedly).

What a great program!

I'm hoping to attend the Leyden event contingent on obtaining an AR style action and finding a place to practice (http://www.northeastshooters.com/vbulletin/threads/307834-Leyden-MA-10-15-16-AR-Seed-round-two) ...

For those aspiring Riflemen and Riflewomen, bring something to protect your elbows! You'll be pivoting on/near your elbows to achieve NPOA as you move across targets. A little sand or dirt + moisture makes for a wonderful elbow skin removal formula[laugh]

For anyone on the fence about taking this course, I couldn't recommend it more! I had never shot prone or sitting, and rarely left the bench. I was able to nearly double my accuracy over just the Sunday since I didn't attend Saturday. 12 more points and I would have scored rifleman! Time to work on NPOA in prone to get rifleman next time.

My elbows took a beating at my first Appleseed. Actually stopped on the way home on the first day at Dicks figuring I could pick up a cheap pair. There are no cheap pairs at Dicks, fyi, just lacrosse type pads that I would need a loan to pay for. I ended up using a foam pad on top of a carpet remnant I was using and it was better. Later picked up a surplus pair of elbow pads which are affordable and do the job.

NPOA was the key for me. Once I got that down, it almost felt like cheating.

Everyone should make it to at least one Appleseed. Huge improvement in accuracy over just the course of a weekend for short money, along with a cool history lesson. Theyre doing the country a great service, imo.

NPOA is key... remember your indexing..and keeping the support elbow UNDER the rifle.. work on those six steps..and dry fire..and dry fire ..and dry fire some more..also you might check the action screw on your rifle now and again.. and that goes double for your rear sight.. and don't forget the proper position and tension on your sling while you're at it.

Other than that.. it's easy...

This company makes a decent elbow pad holder..... nice little jacket if you plan to shoot in positions more often.

Also now that you taken your appleseed find local club to shoot CMP ....o

You can also, buy a set of replacement pads and glue/sew them to a heavy work shirt.

A good USGI loop sling does wonders for support also.

Want to up your level ....compete in NRA CMP a good coat goes a,long way to help comfort , recoil and limit your pulse feeding back through the sling I have had these. Champions was fine but it "shrunk" on me.
