Add gin, basil, cucumber, lime to a boston shaker. Muddle heavily, add tonic, strain, garnish.
This is just about the recipe my grandfather found post-war on the West Coast. They (the Tiki bar) also added about 4 ounces of house made cherry infused vodka since they were part of a cherry growing region8 oz light rum, 8 oz dark rum, 4 oz triple sec,4 oz orgeat syrup and 8 oz of pineapple juice. Shake and pour over ice and garnish with orange slices and maraschino cherries
