anyone still worship at the .45 acp alter?

Loading some Hi-tech 230 gr 45 ACP for 1911 R1 target practice and would appreciate any input; Clays Win 231 Unique HS6 AutoComp?

5 grains of 231 should do the trick. I'm a big fan of the 45acp but if I was in brown bear country, I'd carry something much bigger.

I do like 5 gr of Win 231 but even that is better than a sharp stick and harsh language.

The goto recipe. Seems to work well regardless of bullet weight...185, 200, 230.

I don't know about bears , but I have seen mag dumps of .45 on wild boar and it made them very angry.
We skinned one out after and the rounds were dropping out from under the hide onto the cement.
I know that boars have a exceptionally think hide, but I think myself I would go with the .44 mag for either over the .45.

The last time I was in bear country, I carried my Delta Elite with 220gr hard cast at 1175fps. Not a substitute for a .44 but better than 45 ACP, IMO.
