Anyone replaced an ejector spring on M1 Carbine bolt?

I've been having an issue with some stovepipes in my CMP M1 Carbine. I'm wondering if a new ejector spring might help. I don't have the bolt disassembly tool, and was wondering if anyone had tried taking the bolt apart without one? Or should I just shell out the $25 and get one?

Yup, done a million of them. When can you bring it down? Having a few spare parts of everything in the bolt is wise. Many time I find the extractors are not in spec too.
