anyone besides myself like and shoot 38 special?

I'm overdue to bring my J-frame Model 38 Bodyguard airweight to the range. I bought it new close to 30 years ago, and do like the gun alot though it can be a bit punishing to put alot of rounds downrange! My dad (not a gun guy) only has one gun, an older blued J-frame he bought 35+ years ago. He rarely shoots, but I'm hoping to get him to the range with his old 38 in the next few weeks. Bought him some muffs, so he has to go!

I want to pick-up another revolver (38 or 357) at some point. I recently added a pinned and recessed 44 mag and love it.

Most of my BPD collection are .38 Specials, love them and shoot them. The rest are .38 S&W which to me is a fun caliber to shoot.

38 special is my favorite round. Mainly because I went nuts back when I first got into bullet casting and reloading back in the 80s and I made thousands of .38 and .357 rounds.
I'm still shooting stuff I made with 1985 components.
My 38 spl 158 grn cast bullets reloads made with scrounged range brass and free wheel weight lead and powder & primers from 1985 cost about $1.50 per 50.
Once I got a load I liked i would crank them out on my Dillon SDB until they'd fill 6 thirty cal ammo cans.
148 grn wad cutters for the revolvers, 158 grn SWC and 125 grn through the carbines is what I like best.

I shoot buckets of it.
Steel challenge. Outlaw Plate matches. Shot Walls of Steel with it a few times. I can thumb-whip the hammer about as fast as shooting d.a. with it.
I lean more towards the 170-180 gr , makes short work of poppers and knock-overs.

Got a brandy-new henry still in the box, I'll leave .357's for that.

I have a Henry lever action 357/38. It's fun to shoot 38 through it.....but they are not as accurate. It likes 158 grain hot 357 mag for accuracy.

I've recently picked up a 1974 made blackhawk. Done alot of ammo tests with it. 38 wadcutters and 357 mag. This one likes the 357 batter than 38 for accuracy though. 38s are fun in the heavy revolver but it just likes the 357 mag reloads better.

50 feet indoors no rest. Shes a Lazer beam.

some of my fondest memories of shooting were my old Model 13 at the Cape Ann Sportsman's Sunday morning open to the public shoots.... outdoors in the cold... shooting $5.00 a box .38Spl wadcutters someone there was selling.

although I have always lusted for a old Model 10 like my Dad carried when he was a Cop, the Model 13 was a close enough match to satisfy the itch.

Old school revolvers are like fine art to me

I just picked up this SP 101 in 357. The perfect pocket pistol for me. Summer is coming!
I have the same gun in spurless hammer. It's not a pocket pistol lol. I carry it in aw owb Bianchi pancake holster and a loose shirt untucked (obviously). It's a fine gun for carry......it just ain't gonna fit in my pockets. Lol

I am going to get an OWB holster for it. I tried one at the gun shop that worked well but it rode a little low for me. But it does fit well in my Carharts.
