Any experience with modular (bolt together) gun safe?

I did look at the other manufacturers noted in this thread and went with Zanotti because it was made here in the USA, and because it has an old school lock. Say what you want about digital, I just don't trust them.

It's not that there aren't good digital locks out there - it's that they cost what a complete gun safe does. I watched a Kaba X09 get used 10 times a day, every day for 8 years and never miss a beat. Their current X10 is a ~$1200 lock, though.

Holy moly! I had no idea they got that expensive! I was referencing the ones that come installed more so than any aftermarket solutions.

If I'm not mistaking, the newest revision X models require you to have a cage code and a facility clearance letter, as well as a statement of need on letterhead by the FSO.

The X10 is super easy to program, and can be set up for dual combos

Thank you citori! I'm looking at this exact model. I'm currently in a fluid housing state and I figured the cost of the zanotti would easily be out weighted by the pain in the ass of moving a few times in just as many years.

I think he's talking about the stuff like what Zannoti sells etc.... basically a truck drops off a pallet of shit at your house and you take in one heavy piece at a time, and there are fasteners in the corners that hold it all together... then the door goes on last and you get something thats at least as hard as a typical gun safe, minus the pain in moving it and it can be put in places you otherwise wouldn't be able to get a safe of the same size....

That sounds amazing

I would get some pistol hangers and get all of the pistol cases out of the safe to give yourself some breathing room.

Thought about it. I don't know if I want them hanging down in front on the right side though. I may just get a rack that can sit on the upper shelf though. I think that would clear up some space too. I'm going to build a small sliding box and line that with something soft that will contain magazines too. I am not sure where to put that yet though.

I'm really thinking about ordering another one of the same size. I did some rearranging and I'm still not using some spaces though it's worked out reasonably, but I could always use more space.
