Was enjoying a little too much Makers 46 last night. I really enjoy the extra oakiness, more than the Woodford double oak.

I enjoyed a healthy pour of Wild Turkey 101 while paying bills this evening.

It looks like we have similar taste. The Russell's 10 was my favorite for a while but now I prefer rarebreed!

This isn't bad. Not "great", but "good".
I tend to like the "lighter" bourbons, Basil Hayden, Buffalo Trace, Maker's Mark 46 and such.
If you like them, you'd probably like this.

We're headed through NH this weekend and I'll have to stop in at the state liquor store in Portsmouth to re-up my Buffalo Trace and Four Roses. Speaking of your local Savanna whiskey, I had a pour of the bourbon from Maine's Stroudwater Distillery over the winter and it was pretty good. I don't know if it's outsourced or distilled in-house but I may pick up a bottle of that, too.

It’s outsourced at the moment, but they’re looking at opportunities to bring that part of the process in house. Buddy of mine works for them.

Not gonna lie, I initially dismissed it as rubbish. It's good, not great. The low price is what initially turned me away.

Buffalo Trace has some high end stuff!? I still prefer wild turkey products it seems. Blanton's is also awesome

I've got to say - Eagle Rare has been my new favorite. Worth a try if you haven't had it.

Eagle Rare (along with many other bourbons) undergoes a process called Heat Cycling, which artificially raises the temperature of the rick house to 85+ degrees, the temperature necessary for the whiskey to penetrate the wood to pick up flavor and color.

Without heat cycling, this process occurs only once naturally during a single year. With heat cycling, it’s occurs twice. So the Eagle Rare 10yr has the complexity and flavor profile of a 20 year old bourbon. Officially, it’s still a 10 year old bourbon, though.

Definitely didn't know that but I still wouldn't compare it to a 20yr. Not that I've even had one. First bottle of eagle rare I disliked second I enjoyed. Check out Hudson baby bourbon. It's a younger bourbon aged in relatively tiny barrels so it has more contact with the wood etc

Picked up a bottle of Rittenhouse Rye, Wild Turkey 101, Russell's Reserve 10 year and one I've never had, Larceny.
    I really like Russell's Reserve!

After having a dab of Wild Turkey 101. Larceny is sweeter, more honey taste with out the peppery bite of the 101.
Smoother without the, in your face burn of the cluckin chicken.

How does larceny compare prices wise? I may have to check it out. I was able to grab a handle of 101 for like $27 at total wine!? If you like Russell 10 try the single Barrell or rarebreed. More "character" though some of the single Barrells I've had weren't as good as others.

I thoroughly enjoyed a bottle of Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit!

Woodford reserve does the same thing. Pumps in steam heat to their stone warehouses, then shuts if off to let it cool down, then repeat.

Picked up a bottle of Elijah Craig the other night, and while I was staring at the shelves, pondering what else I might buy, the owner/manager (?) came over and made a few recommendations after asking me what I liked.

I bought one of his recommendations, and it's pretty good:

And I couldn't post that picture without this one:

I believe they donated that barrel to various charities for fundraising.

Where did you find rabbit hole? I've been wanting to try that but thought I may have to go to Kentucky
