Anvil Shoot....It's not what you think

i thought it was going to be someone shooting a anvil with a rifle when i saw the title i wonder how many times the anvil has ended up on someones head.

i know many many people in the fireworks industry, and several in missouri, which is where this is a huge thing. they've all told me it's a legit sport and the guys get real serious about it. haha. looks like a ton of fun to me.

I saw that years ago on the History Channel.

Still Way Cool [thumbsup]

However, I didn't know the charge weight until now.

At $20+ per lb. for Black Powder, that can make for an expensive afternoon.

Since this is a popular sport out west, I wonder how they score this for the winner?

I suppose they could set up a bunch of theodolites, follow the anvil up, read the angle and do the math, or is there some simple way?

This happens to be the same museum that is now the permanent home of the Maxim Gun captured by Alvin York in WW1, the very same machine gun that was found in the attic of the Nahant Library:

An exhibit on Alvin C. York, a pacifist who later became one of the greatest heroes of World War I, includes the machine gun that York captured from the Argonne Forest in 1918.
