Hi,

I inherited a Springfield 1812 musket that is located in Maine.

Do I need a Maine license to transport it from Maine to Mass?
Also does it need to be in a case or locked trunk etc?

Thanks for any help...i'll have to ask the same question to the NH folks.

No permits needed in either MA or ME if it was made in 1812!

I'd still case it, to prevent damage in transport and keep it out of sight to avoid nosy questions by the ignorant (of MA gun laws).

Thanks for the info LenS!

Yes, it's a oldie I just want to be sure...
I have to travel through NH as well...having it cased and locked in the trunk should be ok for ME, NH and MA correct?

I think that LenS will agree with me that there is a special law that states, you must post pictures of the musket when you get it.

Yes, you are GTG in ME, NH and MA. Just make sure that it's not loaded as that would violate the law in MA (and I think also ME and NH).
