This is not the first time police have been called to Soles's home or office. The longest-serving member in the history of the state legislature has often called police about being harassed by young men looking for money. In August 2009, Soles shot Kyle Blackburn, who the senator said was trying to break into his home. Soles eventually pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon. A judge ordered him to pay a $1,000 fine plus court costs.

"He kicked me right upside the head with some little, pointy elf shoes," he said.

Hmmm, now why would a senator repeated be harassed by young men looking for money? Could they have been expecting payment for services rendered?

Its probably too late now but this guy should have been made an example of. The NRA should have been all over getting this guy prosecuted and sent to jail. How many of us would he have done the same for? When you prosecute someone like him he gets all his buddies to change the laws used to threaten his freedom...and career.
